Leyna One-Shot

Leo sat at the little table just outside the café-alone. All of his friends had wanted to explore New Rome with their girlfriends. And Leo, well Leo was single as a pringle. He stared at the brown coffee in the cup on the table, and sighed.

"Hello," said a feminine voice. Leo looked up. A girl his age was standing on the other side of the table, looking down at him. She had long, locks of dark brown hair and black eyes. She was also, Leo noticed, very beautiful.

"Oh, uh, hi, Reyna," Leo replied, sitting a bit straighter in his chair.

"Can I sit down?" Reyna asked.

"Um, sure."

Reyna sat down across from Leo as a tall blonde girl rushed up to her. Reyna ordered a coffee, not even looking away from Leo. The demigod who took her order scurried away, leaving the two alone.

"So," Leo said. "Did you want to tell me something?"

Reyna looked up at him. "Why would I?"

"Well, you just sat down here."

Reyna sighed and placed her hand on the table. "This is my favourite table."

"Why?" Leo asked. "It's not even in the sun and it's covered in bird poo."

Reyna seemed to ignore Leo's last comment. "Jason and I always used to sit at this table."

Leo stared at her. "So... Jason and you... You two used to date?"

Reyna sucked in a breath. "I guess you could say that." Reyna looked down. "But the thing is... We never broke up. We were dating one day, the next he goes missing, then he comes back with a new girlfriend."

Leo could tell that Reyna was upset. He didn't know a lot about girls, (that was Piper) but he did see that she missed Jason. She picked up her cup of coffee and took her first sip, them set it down with a disgusted look on her face. "I always hated the coffee here."

Reyna set her coffee aside and looked at the table. Leo drained his cup then looked at the girl sitting in front of him.

"Wanna go for a walk?" he asked. The words spilled out before he realized what they meant. Reyna looked up at him, her eyebrows slightly arched.

"Okay," she said.

The two demigods stood up. They walked around New Rome in silence, except for Reyna pointing things out every once and a while. Finally, they arrived at the top of a hill, where a terrace overlooked all of New Rome. Reyna stared down at her city. "So why are you in New Rome all by yourself?" she asked.

"Um, actually," Leo said, his face slightly flushing. "Percy, Annabeth, Frank, Hazel, Jason and Piper are here too."

Reyna raised her eyebrow and turned to look at him. "Why aren't you with them?"

"Well, Percy's dating Annabeth, Frank's dating Hazel, and, uh, you know about Jason... And I didn't want to be the third wheel so..." He trailed off. Reyna pursed her lips slightly.

"How long have you known Jason?" she finally said. 

"The real him?" Leo looked at her. "Maybe a year and a half."

"What do you mean, the 'Real him'?"

Leo explained how the Jason that he thought he knew for three years was just an illusion. When he finished, he noticed that Reyna's cheeks were damp with tears.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Leo asked, putting his arm around the girl's shoulder.

"Nothing, it... It's nothing." She raised her hand and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

"Then why did you just randomly start crying?"

Reyna sighed. "Because... I... I guess I just miss Jason."

Leo turned and looked at her. "Look," he said softly. "I know that you're upset that Jason's dating Piper now. But... You'll get over it. Okay? You will meet a guy that you like."

Reyna looked at him. "I think that I already have."

It took Leo a bit longer to realize what she was saying. "Oh," he said. She put her hand on Leo's arm. Leo rested his hands on her waist. They both started to lean in... And then their lips were touching.

Kissing a girl... It was something Leo had only done once before. He hoped that he was doing it right...

But Reyna pulled away. She lowered her hand so it rested on his elbow. She looked away. Leo smiled and started to laugh. Reyna lifted her gaze up and cracked a small smile as well.

Leo couldn't control it. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her again. She laughed into the kiss and kissed Leo back. When they finally pulled away, Reyna grabbed Leo's hand, and the two walked back into New Rome together.
