I stepped up beside Percy. "We'll take that," I said. I looked at one of my half-brothers, Malcolm. "Malcolm, take the Athena cabin. Activate plan twenty-three along the way, just like I showed you. Hold that position."

"You got it," Malcolm said.

"I'll go with Percy," I said, mainly to my cabin. "Then we'll join you, or go wherever we're needed."

"No detours, you two," shouted somebody at the back of the group of demigods. I blushed like crazy. Fortunately, Percy changed the subject. "All right," he said. "Keep in touch with cell phones."

"We don't have cell phones," Silena Beauregard said.

Percy bent over and picked a BlackBerry out of a woman's hand, then tossed it to Silena. "You do now."

I almost smiled. Percy thought he was so awesome when he was trying to be a leader. After Percy explained what to do with cell phones, made sure everyone had a place to be going, and a surprise entrance from Thalia and the rest of the Hunters, everyone spread out.

Percy and I ran side by side down the empty streets, jumping over the occasional body. Percy had suggested that we steal a car, but I told him no.

Finally, we slowed down to a walk. Despite all the fitness training I've done in the past, my legs were killing me.

Crash.

The loud sound of metal crashing against metal filled the air. I tried my best to ignore it-it sounded like whatever is was had happened far away from Percy and I.

But suddenly, Percy called out my name, wrapped his arms around me and pulled me off my feet. He ran a few feet, then pressed me against a building wall, covering my whole body with his. I buried my face in the hallow of his neck as I heard another crash. This time, it came from right in front of me. Percy did not loosen his grip around my waist. But he lifted his head up and looked behind him, giving me the chance to see what had happened. An overturned car was laying in the spot where I had been standing moments ago. My eyes widened. If Percy hadn't pulled me out of the way... Well, I'd be dead. I gripped Percy's arms and pulled him closer to me.

He looked back around at me. "Are you okay?" he said gently.

I slowly nodded, looking at him. "Are you?"

"I'm fine."

"Thanks," I whispered. "For saving me."

"Any time."

Percy and I locked eyes. I got lost in his... Beautiful... Green eyes...

Gods he was so hot.

I straightened up, and leaned in towards Percy's face.

And I could have sworn that he was doing the same.

Then I did something that I had been wanting to do for a long time.

I kissed him.

Almost immediately, Percy kissed me back. I slowly ran my hands up and down Percy's muscular arms. He slid one hand from my waist and put it on the back of my neck, holding my head in place; his other hand rested on my hip.

Kissing Percy was... How should I say this... Amazing. His lips were so soft, so gentle, yet rough in a different way.

After a while I pulled away. "I can't believe that I'm making out with you in the middle of a freaking war," I said, still keeping our mouths close.

"Might as well enjoy it while you can, Wise Girl," Percy said quietly. "Might not ever get to do it again. You know, you could die out there."

"No need to remind me," I muttered.

I kissed Percy again.

And Percy kissed me back again.

"I thought I said no detours."

Percy pulled away from me, and I looked over his shoulder to see around thirty kids standing behind us. Every single one of them was smirking.

We waited for them to run past, and then Percy pulled away from me completely. We were both blushing.

I took his hand in mine. "Come on," I said. "We gotta go kick some Titan butt."

We started to run again.

"Oh, by the way," I said, looking at Percy. "That was your good luck kiss."
