"Percy, let me come with you." Annabeth said, her grey eyes full of worry.
"No. It's too dangerous." I replied. "Besides, I need you to help Michael coordinate the defensive line. I'll distract the monsters. You group up here. Move the sleeping mortals out of the way. Then you can start picking off monsters while I keep them focused. If anybody can do all that, you can."
"Thanks a lot." Michael snorted. I almost forgot he was there. Michael stepped out from behind the school bus we were hiding behind to look out for monsters. I kept my eyes glued to Annabeth. She sighed and nodded reluctantly. "All right. Get moving."
Before I lost my courage, I said, "Don't I get a kiss for good luck? It's kind of a tradition, right." I expected Annabeth to punch me or slap me, so I got ready to deflect anything she threw at me. But I didn't stop her from doing what she did. She glared at me, then pressed her lips against mine. I was shocked. I thought that the last time that she kissed me was going to be the last. After a few seconds, Annabeth pulled away. She looked into my eyes with her big grey ones.
"Good luck, Seaweed Brain."
