Piper was suffocating me in a hug.
"Piper..." I breathed. "You just saw me yesterday."
"I know!" Piper cried. She pulled away from me. "How are you feeling?"
"Same as yesterday. I'm great."
"Has it been kicking?"
I laughed and nodded. "Sometimes. This morning, actually."
Piper squealed. "Can I feel?"
"Go ahead," I told her.
Beaming, the daughter of Aphrodite placed both hands on my swollen belly.
"I think I felt it kick!" she squealed.
I rolled my eyes. I knew that she didn't because I didn't feel anything.
Piper took her hands away from my stomach and gave me one more hug. "Jason says hi," she said.
"Okay. Tell him I say hi back," I called as she walked away.
Just a few seconds later, a woman with dark braided hair came walking up to me.
"Mom," I said awkwardly.
Athena stared at me with her intense grey eyes for a few seconds, her lips pursed. "I still do not approve of your relationship with that son of Poseidon."
I blushed and looked down.
"But," my mother continued. I looked up. "Congratulations, my daughter."
The goddess was smiling now. I couldn't hide the huge smile on my face as I hugged her. I realized, that this is probably only the second time that I ever hugged my mother. My first being at my wedding.
The hug ended quickly, and my mother stared at me with her lips pursed again. "I will see you later, Annabeth." And with that, she walked away.
After about an hour, I heard Piper's voice call out, "Okay everyone, time for presents!"
All the girls in the room gathered around the table which had many gifts exploding from it.
I sat down in a chair, resting my hands on my stomach. Piper rushed over and sat beside me.
"Open mine first!" she said with excitement as she placed a bag in my lap.
I took the card and read the note that Piper had written.
"Thank you," I said quietly as I started to take the tissue paper out of the bag. At the bottom, there was a pink and blue striped blanket, a couple of pairs of tiny woolen socks, and something that I wish that my mother hadn't seen.
I opened present after present, until there was one blue bag sitting on the table.
As I reached for it, I asked, "Who is this from? I think I already opened all of your presents..."
There were muffled 'not from me' and 'not mine', so I just looked at the card. There was no name on the envelope. But as soon as I opened the card, I knew who it was from. I started to read the message inside.
My dearest Wise Girl,
Okay, so I know that that greeting is really cheesy, but it was the most romantic thing that I could think of. Agh, I messed up the start so I'm just gonna start again...
My dearest Wise Girl,
Out of all the people on earth, I am probably the most excited and happy about your pregnancy. I'm not just gonna be a husband, I'm gonna be a father. And you have no idea how excited I am for this baby- for our baby.
Annabeth, I love you with all my heart. You have been my one true love since I was sixteen years old, and I know that you are going to remain my one true love until the day that I die. And even when I'm dead, I will love you. I know that that doesn't make any sense, but it's true. I will love you for all eternity. And I know that I've already told you, but there is not a limit to the times that I can say that I am madly in love with you, Annabeth Chase... I mean Jackson.
Have a nice baby shower, and I cannot wait for our baby.
Love,
Seaweed Brain.
P.S. I love you.
Tears formed in my eyes. I could not believe what Percy had written. I mean, yeah, everyday he told me that he loved me, but he had never said anything like this before. The tears in my eyes fell down my face.
"Annabeth, what's wrong?" she asked, putting her arm around my shoulders."Who is it from?"
"P-Percy," I said quietly, wiping my eyes.
Piper was beaming. "Seriously?"
I nodded. Piper grabbed the present and shoved it in my hands. Wiping my eyes and smiling, I tore through the blue and grey tissue paper until my hands came across something soft. I wrapped my hand around whatever it was, and pulled it out.
It was a blue onesie, but what was written on it was what got to me the most.
Across the middle, in dark grey writing, was Seaweed Brain Jr.
I was smiling, but I was also crying. "He is so sweet," I said.
Piper nodded. "He is. That is so cute."
I stared at the card, at the message that he had written.
I am madly in love with you too, Percy Jackson.
