Percy Jackson- Shots

Labyrinth Kiss- Annabeth's POV

Ok. Thank the gods for my invisibility hat! If I could just get a bit closer...

"Annabeth!" A familiar voice yelled. Percy. I looked up and saw him right in front of me.

"Shh!" I whispered and put my hand over his mouth. I tackled him down behind a cauldron as one of the monsters looked in our direction.

"You want to get us killed?" I whisper/yelled. Percy raised his hand to my face and poked me in the eye. He patted my head and took off my cap, and I turned visible.

"Percy what is your problem?" I asked.

"We're going to have company!" He said quite loudly. I slapped his shoulder and shushed him again.

"What are you talking about?" I asked. He told me what he saw.

"Telkhines... So that's what they are. Gods, I should've known. And look what they're making..." Percy and I peeked our heads over the cauldron. I saw four telkhines- full grown, at least eight feet tall telkhines standing in the middle of a platform. They each hammered a huge piece of white-hot metal. Then they started talking- I didn't even know telkhines could talk.

"The blade is almost complete." The tallest said. "But it needs another cooling in blood to fuse the metals.

"Aye," the monster closest to me agreed. "It shall be even sharper than before!"

"What is that?" Percy whispered. It almost made me jump, because I forgot that he was still standing beside me. We crouched back down behind the cauldron.

"They keep talking about fusing metals. I wonder if-"

"They were talking about the greatest Titan weapon. And... They said that they made my father's trident." Percy said.

"The telkhines betrayed the gods," I reminded him. "They were practicing dark magic. I don't know what exactly, but Zeus banished them to Tartarus for it."

"With Kronos." I nodded.

"We have to get out of-" Before I could finish, the door of a room burst open and hundreds of small telkhines poured out. I watched for a couple seconds, as they stumbled over each other, figuring out which was to go.

"Put your cap back on." Percy said. "Get out of here!" I turned my attention back to him.

"What?! No! I'm not leaving you!" I said, trying to ignore the sounds of screaming telkhines.

"I've got a plan. I'll distract the telkhines. Use the metal spider and, and maybe it'll lead you back to Hephaestus. You have to tell him what's going on."

"But you'll be killed!"

"I'll be fine. Besides, we have no choice." Percy didn't sound fine. His arms were covered in cuts and scrapes, and he looked worried. I really wanted to punch him for being such an idiot, but I couldn't. Not when he was going to risk his life so I could get out. Not when he could be killed, just so I could be safe. He looked at me with his big green eyes and I just couldn't help it. I grabbed his shirt and pulled him into a kiss. When I pulled away, Percy stared at me with his mouth open.

"Be careful, Seaweed Brain." I said. Then I put on my invisibility cap and vanished.
