Different.

That's what most described Annabeth after we got married.

She was quieter than usual, grumpier, and liked to spend a lot of time alone, in her room.

Was I worried about her?

Definitely.

One day, I saw her sitting at the kitchen table, drawing. I walked up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Hey Wise Girl," I said, kissing her temple.

She mumbled a quick, "Hi," but didn't look up from her paper.

"What's wrong?" I asked, putting my chin on her shoulder.

"Oh, it's nothing, Percy," Annabeth said. "It's just... I've been trying to design something for Olympus... But I keep getting distracted."

"Maybe you should take a break or something," I suggested. She shrugged.

"I think I'm going to go visit Thalia," she mumbled, standing up.

"This is the fourth time in the past three days that you've gone to visit her," I said. "What's going on? Are you seeing someone else?"

Annabeth's jaw dropped open and her eyes widened. "No! Gods no, Percy. Why would you even think that? Don't you trust me?"

"I do... It's just that... Ever since we got married, you've been acting a bit different."

Annabeth looked down. "In what way?"

"I don't know... You've been more distant with me."

"I'll tell you what," she said, grabbing my hands. "I'm only going to Thalia's for a couple hours. When I get back, we can order a pizza or something, and we'll watch a movie together? Okay?"

"Okay." I leaned down at planted a soft kiss on her lips. She smiled.

"I'll see you later." She kissed my cheek, then walked out of our apartment.

ANNABETH

"Thalia... It's positive."

"Well, you've already tested five times. As much as you think that it will happen, I doubt that if you do it more, it will come out negative."

"Thalia, I'm scared."

"It'll be fine."

"What about Percy? He's not ready."

"You don't know that."

"He's my husband. We've been married for a year, and I can tell that he's not ready for this."

"Well what are you going to do? Wait until it's actually happening, then tell him?"

"No... I was just going to save it until later on."

"Annabeth, he'll notice in about two months time. You've already known for three weeks, it's time that you tell him."

"But... No. I can't."

"Listen to me. When you go home tonight, you will sit Percy down and you will tell him. He's ready to know, and I know it."

"Thalia-"

"You can do this."

"I don't think I can."

PERCY

Just like Annabeth said, in two hours, she was back home. She was stuffing something in her bag as she slipped her shoes off.

"What's that?" I asked.

"Nothing," Annabeth replied. "I'm going to go get changed."

"Hurry up!" I called as she walked to our room. "I just ordered Chinese!"

"Yes! I love Chinese!"

In a few minutes, Annabeth was wearing a pair of shorts and one of my sweatshirts. At that moment, the doorbell rang. I rushed over to it, payed for our food and walked back into the living room, where Annabeth was sitting on the couch.

"Dinner is served," I said, holding up the two boxes of Chinese food. I sat down beside Annabeth and reached for the remote so I could turn on the TV, but Annabeth placed her hand over mine.

"Actually, Percy, I need to tell you something." I noticed that she had set her box aside, and I did the same.

"Okay. What is it?"

Annabeth took a deep breath. "How would you feel about an addition to the house?"

"What, like a pet or something?"

"Well, not really."

"So... Are we getting a new house? Moving?"

"No. Nothing like that."

I raised my eyebrows.

Annabeth broke into a smile. "Percy, I'm pregnant."

It took me a few moments for her words to sink in.

Percy, I'm pregnant.

I looked at her, open-mouthed. Annabeth looked down.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you. I knew that you weren't ready for this-"

I threw my arms around Annabeth and pulled her towards me. "Pregnant? Pregnant?! Annabeth, that's the best godsdammed thing I've heard in forever!"

Tears welled up in my eyes. My wife was pregnant. I pulled Annabeth away from me and placed my hands on her shoulders. "You're pregnant," I said. "Pregnant. Are you sure?"

Annabeth didn't respond; she walked over to her bag lying at the door and pulled out a white stick. She came and sat back down on the couch. "This is my test," she said quietly. "It's positive."

I took it from her hands. And it sure was positive. I was so happy. "Annabeth... This is amazing. I... We're... We're going to be parents."

"Have a child of our own," Annabeth said.

I looked at her. We were both smiling. "How long have you known?" I asked.

"Three weeks. I didn't tell you... Because, well, I didn't think that you were ready. I thought that I would wait for a bit until you... Matured a little bit more."

I ignored the fact that she practically called me childish. "Well I'm glad that you told me. I still can't believe it. I'm going to be a father!" I yelled the last part. Annabeth laughed and raised her hand, placing it on my cheek. I hadn't even realized that I was crying until she started to wipe away tears.

"I think," I declared. "That this deserves to be celebrated with Chinese food."

I took my box in one hand and Annabeth's in the other. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and she scooted in closer to me so her head was leaning on my shoulder.

"What are we gonna call the baby?" I asked.

Annabeth thought for a moment. "Silena," she said softly. "If it's a girl. If it's a boy..."

"Charles," I said, finishing her sentence. "Charlie. His nickname can be Beckendorf."

I saw Annabeth nodding. "Hey, Percy?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you too," I said. "And I'm so excited for this baby."

"Me too."

Even though I could see her face, I knew that she was smiling.
