Chapter 23- First Crush and First Love
I woke up feeling great. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping-- just kidding birds don’t chirp in NYC. It felt like one of those Disney Princess Movies as I stretched and yawn. You know how those typical princesses wake up so gracefully with perfect hair and perfect face? Well, my hair probably looked like a bird’s nest and my face probably has some drool on it, but it felt amazing waking up this morning.
It may have to do with the fact that there wasn’t an alarm clock and I wasn’t getting smacked in the face with a pillow, but I don’t know… just a thought.
After my morning routine I skipped downstairs to the kitchen to get some breakfast. I was finally having a good morning in a long time.
“Woah, someone seems happy this morning.” Taylor says eating a doughnut while drinking some star bucks coffee.
I picked up a donut that was sitting in the box and bit into it and shrugged at her. The house was oddly quiet … I wonder where everyone went. “Where’s everyone?”
“They went out.” Taylor says.
“To where?”
“I don’t know. I just woke up.”
I swallowed the last of my doughnut and chugged down a cup of coffee. “Does my outfit look bad?” I asked Taylor unconsciously.
She eyed me up and down deciding if it looked bad or good. I wore a teal cropped tank top, high waist floral shorts, and a pair of teal and gold sandals to top it all off. She twirled her fingers around signaling me to turn around and I did. “You look… amazing!” she concluded with a big smile. I was about to say thank you, but she continued talking, “Why are you so self conscious all of a sudden? I thought you didn’t care about how you looked.“
“I--”
“Are you meeting someone… oh you are totally meeting someone!”
I didn’t know how to respond to her comment because she was correct and I was slightly embarrassed that she caught me going out of my ways for someone. “I’m dressing up for myself.” I lied unconvincingly.
Taylor raised her impeccable eyebrows, “Doubtful.”
“I’m serious.” I claimed trying to look casual while my inside was wobbling. I was a horrible liar and everyone knew it. To make my fail attempt to lie even more of a fail the elevator door opened and revealed Austin Mahone.
“Ready to go? I have some many places planned out and maybe we can go through a quarter of them if we leave now!” Austin chatted ebulliently as he strolled into the penthouse wearing a blue t-shirt and some white shorts. “Morning princesses.” he greeted us.
“Morning Prince Charming.” Taylor said without faltering and shot him a smile. Then she turned and addressed to me, “Not meeting up with someone huh?”
I gave a weak laugh then hung my head shamefully.
“What’s wrong Tammy?” Austin asks walking up to me, by the looks on how far our feet were, he was only about 10 inches away from me. Ten inches… that’s so close! Ok, you’re just acting like a creep now.
I took in a deep breath through my nose, inhaling his scent. Ok, definitely a creep.
“Tammy lied and told me you guys weren’t going on a date together.” I heard Taylor say. A date? So that’s what she that I was hiding. I almost scoffed, a date? I wish I was going on a date with Austin Mahone; that would be a dream come true. No, he’s only being a nice friend and showing me New York City… or at least I think he considers me as a friend…
