Every time I look at my reflection
I see a girl, so fragile and weak
They say she’s too old to hide
Yet too young to speak
Her lips are forced shut,
Covered by a hand too big to be hers
Her eyes are crying
Wanting to be heard
Her feet are chained to the side of the bed
Unwelcome sound and images
Echoing through her head
Her hands are tied
Behind her back
Her screams fell silent
As her body became limp, slack
The hands on her lips,
Fell on the man’s side
The man was he father
Who watched her as she died
The last image in the girl’s mind
Wasn’t of her father, caring and sweet
It was of a man
She never wanted to meet
