The Mask

Every time I look in the mirror

At the beginning of each day,

I ask myself;

“Which mask should I wear today?”

Should I wear the mask that shows sadness?

No, it’s too revealing.

I don’t want everyone to know my true feelings.

In every mask I wear,

It covers the true me.

It covers my feelings

So no one can see.

It speaks all of my history

So it is bound o be seen by only me.

It tells a story of the love lost,

The pain that’s too hard to bear.

It tells a story of me that only I can know and only I can share.

I choose the mask I wear carefully,

One mistake and my secrets are told.

I don’t want anyone to see the parchment about me

To unfold.
