Love burns

“I can’t do that! I love her!” you reason out.

But, is it true that love is what you feel and not doubt?

I stand here, beside you

It pains me to say but I’m here, your best friend.

You can lean on me,

I’ll carry your burden with you until the end.

“Love”, what a pleasant word

Yet it is only pleasant when it is from you to me.

But, no matter how much it pains me,

Even if you will never see,

I’ll be the one to pick you up

Even though you are hurt by the one you love.

I’m pained every time you praise her

I cringe away every time her name leaves your lips

Yet I’m here, brushing your hair away from your eyes

With my numbed finger tips.

Love can make you feel joy,

Love can burn

It is like fire

Once it’s gone, it’ll never return.
