Forgive and Forget

The person who you thought that would kneel down and beg

Where is she, the girl you pushed down?

Isn’t she the one who’s on top of you now?

Where is that person now?

The person who you thought that would give up the fight?

That person has everything that you never thought he might.

Aren’t you the one who did that to yourself?

The people you thought that were lower than you,

You never thought that they might be stronger than you.

So now that you’re on the ground

Wounded and hurt

What do you expect for us to do?

Lend you a hand; lift you up from the dirt?

Tough luck; you crossed the line, crossed the borders

You crossed across the place you’re allowed to step

Do you think we still have the heart to forgive and forget?
