Chapter Forty-Four

Chapter Forty-Four: The Half-Blood Prince

"He'll be fine, Maddie." Dean rubbed my back as I cried.

"What happened?" I looked up as Hermione and Ron rushed in. Dean looked at me and I shook my head.

"Ask Harry, he's the one who done it." I said, still crying.

"Harry, you have to get rid of that book," Ginny said, sitting next to Harry. "today." Harry nods and looks at me.

Ginny and Harry just came back from hiding the book.

"So did you and Ginny do it then?" Ron asked him.

"What?" he asked, nervous.

"You know, hide the book."

"Oh yeah, yeah!" Harry said and I smiled. I looked at him questionably and he looked down.

Ron and Hermione were playing wizard's' chess and I sat reading a good book.

"Ron, Hermione, Maddie," Harry stopped at the door. "Dumbledore and I have to go somewhere. You guys stay here, I'll be back soon." We didn't question it because these sorts of events have been particularly common now.

Harry goes off with Dumbledore.

"Guys, I am going to go walk around. I will be back sometime." I closed the door and walked outside. I could smell the freshly-cut grass and rain. Those were always my favorite smells; well, along with peppermint.

I sat down on the hill towards the Forbidden Forest and laid back.

This was my favorite time of the year.

"Care if I join you?" someone stood behind me.

"Sure Neville." I smiled and he laid back by my side.

"I'm sorry about what happened to you last year," he sat up. "you know, the Cruciatus Curse."

"Neville, it's okay. It's been a year."

"8 years ago," he sighed. "a deatheater, Bellatrix LeStrange, tortured my parents into telling about Lily and James Potter. They didn't say anything."

"They'd rather die than betray their friends. I am proud to be their son." I smiled and grabbed his hand.

"I'm glad to be your friend, Neville." he smiled and stood up.

"I have to go, Seamus told me to meet him in the library." I smiled and strolled back into the castle. I went up to the Astronomy Tower to think. I sat down on the ledge and hung my feet over. I smiled over Hogwarts, my home. I felt a strong breeze hit me in the back and I turned around.

"Here, sit down."

"Harry? Professor?" I asked and Harry's eyes went wide.

"Maddie, you shouldn't be here. You need to go to the common room now, you too Harry." Dumbledore whispered.

"Quick, someone's coming." he told us to hide so Harry and I sprinted under the steps. I saw a familiar suit and I gasped.

"That's Draco."

"Why do you care so much about him anyway?" I shushed him. I head Draco disarm Dumbledore.

"I can help you."

"No you can't." Draco yelled.

"What about Maddie?"

"How do you know about her?" My breath caught in my throat.

"I know you care about her very much. I can help you, I can help Ms. Weasley."

"No, you can't! Don't you see, I have to do this. I have to kill you, or he's going to kill Maddie and me." I looked terrified over at Harry. We heard a door slam and shuffling up the stairs.

"Well done, Draco." I saw Bellatrix breath over him. My knuckles went white and Harry grabbed my hand.

"Do it!" He wouldn't. I raised my wand up through the floorboards and Harry tapped my shoulder. I slowly turned around and saw Snape with his wand pointed towards us. He gestured us to be quiet and he stepped up the stairs.

"Go on Draco, now!" Bellatrix screamed. Snape looked Dumbledore in the eye.

"Severus, please."

"Avada Kedavra!" I gasped and cried. Harry covered my mouth as I watched him fall from the Astronomy Tower.

I saw Snape grab Draco and they ran out. Once they left, I sprinted out. I shot a spell at Draco and he looked back at me.

"How could you?" I cried.

"Maddie, you can't be out here. It's dangerous."

"Why didn't you tell me?" I shouted and he covered my mouth.

"Malfoy," someone yelled behind me and I winced. Draco's eyes widened.

"Shh, they'll hear you! Go back to your common room. I love you, stay safe. I will explain later."

"Malfoy, you traitor!" Harry shot spells at him and Draco ran towards the deatheaters.

Dumbledore is dead.

All these characters belong to J.K. Rowling. All credit goes to her for some of the plot and all of setting (characters, etc.) I made Maddie Weasley, that is it. I am just a girl who wants to write fanfictions.
