Standing by the bar at the Grill, I looked around, waiting for the waiter to come back. I heard someone approach from my other side and I turned my head, finding the Gilbert boy, Jeremy, standing there. "Hey, Ellie, right?" I nodded my head. "I'm Jeremy. Elena's brother."

"I know who you are," I told him, turning my body to face him.

"Right. Well, there's a decade dance at the school tonight and I was wondering if, maybe, you'd like to go with me?" He asked, shyly. A smile spread across my face.

"Yeah, why not? Sounds great."

"So I'll pick you up around 7?" My face dropped slightly.

"You know what? Why don't I just meet you at the school? I have a guest staying with me and she's not feeling too good. I wouldn't want you getting sick," I lied.

"Uh, yeah, okay. I'll see you tonight," he said, walking backwards.

"Jeremy, wait!" I called as he turned around. "What decade?"

"The twenties," he replied, a smile on his face. The twenties, oh this was going to be a fun night, I thought to myself as the waiter came back with my food.

I finished adding the final touches to my outfit before going over to the mirror. Smiling at my work, I grabbed my keys and phone, heading downstairs. "Where are you going?" I heard my mother ask from the living room.

"There's a dance tonight at the high school. I was invited," I said, cautiously, walking into the room.

"By who?"

"Jeremy Gilbert." She nodded her head, not looking at me.

"All right." I took that as a good sign and quickly left the house. Getting to the school, I parked across the street, seeing Jeremy standing at the entrance, waiting for me. A smile grew on his face as he saw me approach.

"Wow, you look amazing," he commented, holding his arm out to me.

"Thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." He led me inside, where people were dancing and talking. I had to say, the decorations looked good. It reminded me of being back in the twenties.

"Ellie!" A voice called and I turned my head to see Caroline coming towards me in a red flapper dress.

"Hey! Wow, you look very...red," I laughed, looking her up and down.

"I'm going to take that as a compliment." A new song came on and Jeremy stole me away, pulling me onto the dance floor. I laughed at his embarrassing dance moves, shaking my head.

"Here, let me show you," I said, showing him some of the moves I used to use. He started to get the hang of it and before I knew it, the song had changed to a slower one. Jeremy grabbed my hand, pulling me into him. "Thank you for inviting me tonight. I needed to get my mind off of things."

"What kind of things?"

"Just some personal things," I told him.

"Excuse me, I'll be right back," he said, something catching his attention from across the room. I nodded my head and he ran off as I made my way over to the punch bowl.

"Where's your date?"

"He had to go deal with something," I said, turning to look at Nik. "What are you doing here?"

"Rebekah was in charge of the dance. She told me to come." I nodded my head, looking at all the people dancing. "Dance with me?"

"You're not going to leave me alone until I do, are you?" He shook his head, a hint of mischief in his eyes. I put my hand in his outstretched one and he brought me out onto the floor. Wrapping an arm around my waist, he pulled me in close.

"How's your wound?"

"Better. It doesn't hurt as much anymore," I said softly.

"I loved the nineteen twenties. Girls were reckless, sexy, fun."

I laughed, "I loved the twenties too. Mainly because I was one of those girls. Of course, that all seemed to get worse after I met you."

"You're still sexy and fun. Not quite as reckless, though," he said, a smile adorning his face.

"I miss the twenties."

"Is that why you kept that dress you're wearing? To remind you of the good old days?"

Shaking my head, I chuckled, "No, not really. This was one of my favorite dresses. I'm surprised you even remember it."

"It's the dress you wore the night that we met. And may I say, you still look very beautiful in it," Nik commented, looking down at me.

"Thank you." It was quiet as we danced, just enjoying each other's company.

So, the events of this chapter are a little weird. I know that all the vampires were stuck behind the salt line at the school and a bunch of stuff happened. I just want to let you know that everything that happens between Ellie and Nik at the school is while they are stuck. Then the line gets broken and more things happen.

Yes, the picture is of Ellie's hair (headband included) and dress. If you're having trouble seeing the picture, either on mobile or on desktop, just let me know and I'll try to fix it.
