Twenty Four

"Shit! Shit!" Ivan exclaimed as he dashed beside me. Natahimik din si Sandra dahil sa nakita niya. Parang bumagal ang takbo ng lahat ng bagay sa paligid ko, nakita kong sumisigaw si Ivan pero hindi ko marinig kung ano ang sinisigaw niya.

Nakatayo parin si Sandra sa harap naming habang tinatakpan ang bibig niya gamit ang malaking paymaypay na hawak niya. Anong nangyayari? Everything started to swirl and to crumble down and with that I know what is gonna happen. Hindi na ako bago dito. I saw Dave rushing to my side before I closed my eyes and met the dark.

I heard strange beeps and murmurs. The beep sounded strange but I know I was familiar with it. I shot opened my eyes and I saw everything white. I am at my second home, I am at the hospital.

I have this unbearable ache in my lower back. I winced at the feel of it. I was struck by curiosity when I heard gasps from the background. So I pooled all my energy just so I could get up. I rubbed my eyes since everything is still so blurry.

I saw a woman in a white coat and then Ivan with his mom beside him talking to her. They noticed me waking up so they all came near me. "Hi, I am your attending physician. How are you feeling?"

I closed my eyes trying not to get bothered by the pain I am feeling but failing miserably. "I have this terrible pain in my lower back." Pagrereklamo ko bago ko tinignan si Sandra. This time, her face is neither angry nor menacing. I saw sadness in it. I saw grief.

Muling ginawian ng tingin ni Doctor June si Ivan, as if asking him for some kind of approval. Ivan nodded and scurried out of the door followed by his mom.I knew something was not right, I am afraid to be enlightened by it.
