Ben's POV

The drive to the station that morning was terrifying. Everyone was chatting normally, trying to distract their minds from the thoughts of what was about to happen. However, I was silent as I thought about everything happening.

I was scared. What was going to happen if I messed up? What if Jack got killed and I didn't? What if I accidentally shot Jack? I wouldn't be able to live. I couldn't live knowing that I'd gone in to save Jack and he'd been killed but I'd survived. I'd much rather Jack live and me die.

When we arrived at the police station, I spotted officer Kenzie sat outside beside Officer Wolf and a few other officers, all of them chatting.

"Officer Wolf!" I grinned, wandering over and giving him a quick hug.

"Managed to get him back on the case" Kenzie chuckled, smiling at me.

"Thank you so much!"

"You ready, kid?" Another officer asked, making me take a deep breath and nod.

"Yeah" I breathed, nodding slowly.

"Let's go jump in the van then" Kenzie said, forcing a smile as she looked at me and my family.

I took my Mum's hand in my left and Rachel's hand in my right as we followed the officers to a big blue police van. It was one of those that armed police used and that was used in riot type things. It had a big cover that could be lower over the windscreen so it didn't smash and the windows were the same.

"Wolfy's driving with Officer Dalton in the front and everyone else up in the back" P.O Kenzie told everyone as Officer Star and Officer Manny pulled open the two back doors.

Everyone stepped up into the back and shuffled down the the front part of the van, sitting down carefully and squeezing in. The layout was so there was like two benches were along the sides of the back so we'd be either beside eachother or across from eachother.

I was sat inbetween Netty and Rachel which I quite liked because they made me feel safe, as did all my other family. Rachel had her head on my shoulder and hand on my knee while Netty was holding my hand as everyone but Rachel and I chatted.

We knew what people were doing, they were trying to hide the fact that they were also nervous but they weren't very good at it. I'm assuming that they were just trying to keep me calm or to not make me any more nervous but it wasn't going to change, even if they weren't scared at all.

When we arrived at the secret hideout by Jason and the gang's place, I began to panic more and my breathing picked up quickly but it was soon calmed down again when Netty squeezed my hand and told me that I could do it.

I'd got a little microphone attached to my shirt as well as a camera so that everyone in the van could see what was happening on the computer setup that they'd got in the back of the van.

"Good luck, I'll see you soon" Mum whispered, hugging me and kissing my forehead. I went around seeing everyone before pulling on a bulletproof vest before grabbing my gun and hiding it as I'd been taught.

"Remember, if something happens you need to say Apples. That's the code word. And if your camera or mic gets ripped off, we'll send in armed officers" Kenzie reminded me after I'd pulled a sweatshirt over the vest.

"Got it, thanks" I smiled, turning around and walking towards the house. My body was shaking and my palms were sweaty and my breath hitched when I got to the path leading up to the front door.

The whole front garden was trashed, full of scrap and muck so I couldn't imagine what the inside of the house would look like, especially considering the windows that had mould on and looked manky.

I tapped my knuckles against the mucky red door before taking a step back and running over the plan in my head for the millionth time. Honestly, I couldn't breathe properly. I just wanted to get it all over and done with and to get Jack out of there.

The door slowly opened, revealing Jason stood tall with dirty tracksuit trouser on and a hoodie. I looked him up and down before spotting a gun in hs hand, making me bite my lip nervously.

Let's do this.
