"Kuya!"
Napatalon ako sa gulat at agad na itinapon ang stick ng sigarilyo sa sahig nang makita ko si Remelly. She was so confused when she saw me on one of the maid's beds here.
She arched her brow. Just like Mommy always does.
"What are you doing here?"
"Nothing." I said and smirked. Humiga ako sa kama. Kumunot ang noo niya pero maya-maya ay nanlaki ang mga mata niya at tinuro ang sigarilyong itinapon ko; umuusok parin.
I grunted. Next time I throw a cigarette butt, I'll remind myself to step on it.
"You're smoking! Oh my, God! I'm so gonna tell this to mommy!"
Nanlaki ang mga mata ko at napabangon. Agad ko siyang nilapitan.
"Mommy!" sigaw niya pero tinakpan ko ang bibig niya ng kamay ko pero mas lalo siyang nagpumiglas. We're here on the maids' quarters and no one's currently here because it's a Sunday. But Mommy's just in the garden and with my sister's voice that can surely raise hell, my mother will be here anytime soon.
"Mommy! Ew, let me go! You're so baho!"
"Ang arte mo, tumahimik ka!" I hissed.
"The smell of cigarette disgusts me!"
"Your mouth disgusts me," I hissed again. Inapakan niya ang paa ko pero hindi ko siya pinakawalan. No, she's not gonna tell anyone what she saw in here!
"I'll call 911!"
"Oh yeah?" I scoffed and laughed. "I'll call 911," I mimicked her and put my arm around her neck. She started squealing.
"Kuya, I'm pagod na! Fine I'm not gonna tell Mommy! Let me go!"
"I don't believe you."
"I promise! Just..."
Umirap ako. I knew it. "Just what?"
Hindi siya gagawa ng isang bagay na walang kapalit.
Humarap siya sa akin at tinignan ako mula ulo hanggang paa. Ngumisi siya pagkatapos.
"Let me borrow your car."
"What? No!" I protested.
"Then I'm gonna tell Mom."
"Sumbungera ka talaga!"
"Your car, Kuya."
I clenched my jaw. Not that I don't want her to borrow my car. She's a reckless driver and I won't let her be in any trouble.
"Just let someone drive for you."
"How am I suppose to learn!"
"You won't have the time to learn because you will just get yourself killed already."
"Same with smoking. And Mom's wrath when they found out."
"Damn it," I hissed and gave her my car keys. She smiled and took my hand.
"Now, let's go!"
Kumunot ang noo ko. "Saan tayo pupunta?"
"Sasamahan mo nalang ako mag-shopping!"
I scoffed. Shopping? "No way."
She gave me an evil grin. "Mommy! Si Kuya J--"
Tinakpan ko agad ang bibig niya. "Fine, fine! Sumbungera ka talaga."
