Chapter 5 - Trust

Nero dreamt about his past. It was after he fought with Dante for the first time. Credo was there talking to him. Credo was the captain of the Holy Knights. He wore the Order’s uniform – white attire with belts on his trousers and black boots. His clothes had gold patterns on it. His gold motorcycle handled sword like Nero’s red one hung off his belt around his waist.

“You must capture him,” Credo ordered. “Take this to help you.”

Nero wanted to disagree. Instead he said, “Trust me, I’ll get it done.” He remembered saying those words.

Credo smiled. “Good.” Nero felt ashamed than proud.

The scene changed to where Nero was stuck in the Saviour’s hand. The Saviour. A statue of the demonic version of Sparda. Nero looked up to Sparda’s head. His Holiness was on Sparda’s head with Yamato.

“Nero, run!” Credo shouted. There was a yell of pain.

“CREDO!!” Nero saw Credo stabbed with Yamato, Dante’s brother’s katana.

“Love?” His Holiness told Credo. “For a sibling? How foolish. All that is needed is absolute power.” He let Credo fall.

“CREDO!!” Nero screamed. He was awake. He sat up on the bed. He was full of anger, regret and sorrow. Link ran into the room with his sword in his hand. He looked around to see Nero sat up on his bed. Link put his sword away and sat on the opposite bed. There was a long silence.

“Sorry,” Nero apologized. “Bad dream.”

“It’s alright. Everybody is awake anyway. When one of the guards came in here, he said you looked like you were having a bad dream. By that time you said someone’s name and I came in.”

“How comes you had your sword in your hand?”

“I just came back from when I went yesterday. My sword was in my hand and I ran in here.”

“Alright. By the way, have I scared anybody? Like what I am?”

“No. Don’t worry about that.” His voice turned into a whisper. “They don’t know that you’re a devil. We don’t want to alarm anyone. We definitely don’t want them attacking you.”

“Okay. You know, I feel as though I’ve forgotten something really important. But I just can’t think of it.”

Link’s voice turned back to normal. “Hm…strange. I feel kind of the same. I don’t understand.”

“Well, let’s leave that for now. What happened yesterday?”

“That reminds me. You need to know that Zelda doesn’t trust you any more than Lightning. But if you want to keep staying here in Hyrule, you’ll need to win the trust of the Warrior. Lightning. I went to see where Lightning headed off to yesterday. Turns out she was just outside the castle gates to make sure no demons or monsters get in. By the way I only found out today that Zelda doesn’t trust you, so this plan works for Lightning.”

“What does that have to do with her trusting me?”

“Well, I went another way and carried on walking ahead without her noticing me. And I saw demons coming in that direction. There were so many demons that it would take all three of us to kill them all.”

“Let me guess, I’m gonna start killing them while you go call her.”

“Yeah.”

Nero stood up and equipped his sword and gun. “I don’t really care if she trusts me as long as I get to kill those demons.”
