Chapter 7 - Revelations

After a few hours of waiting, Serah, Lightning and Zelda finally came out into the hall.

“Okay,” Lightning called out. “Nero. Come here. This is important.” Nero, Dante, Vergil and Link gathered round. “I know you’ve been waiting for a long time, Nero, but we needed two more people and one of them turned out to be Serah.”

“Well, we, me and Link, found out a week ago-”

“A week ago?!” Nero’s anger rose. “Sorry. Carry on.”

“Well, we found out that this whole world will be in chaos.” Vergil turned around and his back faced the others.

“Who told you that?” Dante asked.

“A woman. She had red hair in a plait, a white cloth poncho, knee-high boots, black pants and a blue top.”

“Lucia…” Dante whispered.

“What?” asked Vergil.

“Anyways you guys,” Zelda continued. “She told us that three catastrophes are about to occur. She gave us the locations of those places where they will happen. They’re also the places where the catastrophes come from. One place was here, another was a place called Fortuna-” Nero’s eyes widened “-and a place called Cocoon.”

“Fortuna,” Nero said. “That’s where I live. But, Link, is this really the reason why you brought me here?”

Link nodded.

“And Cocoon is where Lightning and Serah are from,” Zelda carried on. “I don’t remember the exact words from what she said exactly.”

Dante smiled. “Well lucky for you, I know her. I met her before I went to the Demon world or the Netherworld for the second time.”

“So if we need to know what she said exactly, we need to go to Fortuna, right?” Nero asked. Lightning nodded. He smiled. “So I guess you’ll need a tour guide, right? I’ll be glad to do that myself. It’s far for walking so…”

“How about a horse and carriage?” Link offered. Everyone nodded.

After preparing the horse and carriage, they headed west towards Fortuna. Link and Nero sat at the front and the rest were at the back. There was a question that suddenly rose in Nero’s mind.

“Link, how did you know that I was from Fortuna?”

“That woman. She showed us a picture of a crest that looked just like the one you have. But you’ll need to know exactly what she said.”

At the back, both Serah and Zelda slept with their heads on Lightning’s shoulders. Lightning looked out of the carriage. She then saw cars parked on the side and people were coming out of their homes to see them. She didn’t like it.

Nero turned. “Welcome to Fortuna!”

Lightning woke both girls up and all three smiled.

“Different, right?” said Vergil. They nodded.

Fortuna looked like it had suffered a lot. But the people were nice and friendly, acting as if nothing had happened. They carried on going and they saw a shop that said ‘Devil May Cry’ on it.

“Good to be back!” Dante exclaimed cheerfully. “Welcome to my shop, people.”

They all climbed out of the carriage and they walked into the shop. Inside was an old-fashioned jukebox, a billiard table, a sofa and of course Dante’s personal desk. It looked like a regular shop apart from the desk. That same woman Zelda described was sitting on the desk. Vergil and Dante went over to Dante’s desk. Dante picked up a frame. Vergil looked sad when he saw it.
