Chapter 28 - Nero's Behaviour

Outside again, Fang and Light got onto their eidolons followed by the other four. Dante and Vergil got onto Odin and Serah and Nero got on Bahamut.

Vergil had a worried look on his face. “Dante, Lightning. I need to tell you something. It concerns Nero. When we split up before, Nero…he just turned against me. No idea why. His eyes turned purple. It’s odd."

“Hm…” Dante began. “Did he say anything to you?”

“Not important.”

“How did he turn back to normal?” asked Light.

“He just…said family and he clutched his head. Closed his eyes.”

“Strange.”

“Do you think it has anything to do with…his state when he came to Hyrule?”

“You know more about devil power than me, Vergil,” mumbled Dante. “What was he like before?”

“Did he use any of his powers?” asked Vergil. She shook her head. “That’s why. When a devil neglects his power, he becomes more human.” Light stayed silent. “I studied the dark arts before. I craved my father’s demonic power back then. I even battled Dante a couple of times.”

“I won you twice, fair and square,” boasted Dante.

“Vergil, carry on with Nero’s behaviour,” Light replied, rolling her eyes.

“This was different,” began Vergil. “After the spell, he didn’t know what he had just done. I’m sure he was thinking of something serious when you were attacking that dragon on top of the temple. He wasn’t paying attention.”

“Wonder why…” smiled Dante.

“I don’t think he has those feelings, Dante,” replied Light.

“You never know!”

“I know he doesn’t.”

“How?”

“He hasn’t looked at a girl like that!”

“Guys! That’s enough! The reason could also be the fact that Fortuna is next! Geez!”

“No way, Vergil,” disagreed Dante. “I know Fortuna’s next but come on! He pointed his sword at you with purple eyes! Purple! Lightning, explain to my brother. That cannot be the reason!”

Light stayed silent for a while. She sighed. “I have to admit, Vergil. Dante is right. The reason could be that darkness ball breath thing from that dinosaur skeleton. You remember?” Odin suddenly jerked in all directions. He then stopped and continued to go towards the mirror chamber. “Sorry guys. Anyways, the Mirror chamber is right ahead of us.”

In the darkness of the night, the twins could make out the shape of the circular prison with the poles on top. Torches were lit in the chamber and they could make out the shape of Bahamut ahead of them. It landed and the passengers jumped off and were next to the other two figures that were already there. Odin galloped faster and was getting closer to the Mirror chamber.

Light suddenly felt pain and hot liquid going down her left arm. She looked at it. An arrow was lodged through it. ‘Land.’ She thought. ‘Land Odin, then deal with it. Focus. Focus!’
