Chapter 27 - The Lanayru Spring

“Dreams,” Midna began. “Mean anything. Some are pieces of memories, some are warnings or showing of the future and so on. In your dreams, anything can happen. But it has a certain meaning.” She turned to Link. “Have you had any sort of strange dreams?”

He nodded. “Ganondorf’s first meeting with the Hero of Time. And about the Ocarina of Time.”

“You see?! That dream means that you have a connection with the Hero of Time and the Ocarina of Time begun everything. Just before I came, you played it, didn’t you?”

“Yeah.”

“So there you go!”

“Hang on a second,” spoke Ralis. “So this has happened because you played some instrument? And that caused that monster to kill my mother? Why?!”

“Prince Ralis,” Zelda put her hand on Ralis’ shoulder. “Please calm down. I’m…I’m sorry to say this but our situation…Ganondorf and Zant. It’s happened before. I don’t think anyone remembers apart from those who were involved who were, Link, Midna, Zant, the resurrected ‘King of Evil’ and myself. You need to stay strong for your people. Once this is over, once the beast is dead, you will be back with your people and well, take your place on the Zora throne as king.”

Ralis still seemed to be full of anger. He walked off towards the bottom of the circular room and jumped. Link went after him and rolled onto the platform above the water. Ralis was nowhere to be seen. Link looked around. Fang jumped down towards Link followed by Serah and Zelda.

“Link,” Zelda spoke. “Fang and I will go ahead. You two find the Prince. He shouldn’t get lost here. He may not find his way back.”

“Alright.”

At that moment, Ralis jumped out of the water to hit Link with his spear. Fang saw this before Link did and stepped in front of him to shield him from the attack. Ralis’ spear hit Fang’s spear.

“Hey!!” Fang shouted. “Snap out of it!! Your anger is driving you to the dark side!!”

Ralis came out again and Fang grabbed his spear. Ralis was hanging on to it.

“Let go!!” Ralis screamed. Fang continued to hold on. Blood was dripping from her hand.

“Look Prince Ralis,” Fang begun. “I seriously don’t care if you want to help us. I’m doing this for my memory. These people are doing this for the sake of Hyrule. Link is doing this because your mother was already dead and he wants to avenge all the lives that have been taken away by Ganondorf and Zant! Don’t you understand that? Why are you doing this mission?”

Ralis stared at her. She let go of it and walked through the door behind her. Ralis, in the water, sensed her disappointment as she walked off. He realised it was within them all as they walked through the same door.

‘I really shouldn’t have done that,’ Ralis thought. He jumped out of the water onto the platform and trailed behind the others. The room was an absolute maze. Half covered in water and the rest regular rocky platforms. In the middle was the entrance to the chamber where the beast lurks.

Fang seemed to be sitting on the edge with Serah and Sheik had been looking for a way. Link was nowhere to be seen. Ralis jumped into the water with Link. The maze seemed to go on forever and were covered in monsters. Near each ledge, Link would sit up for oxygen to fill his lungs.
