Chapter 24 - Random thoughts
In the hotel, Nero felt out of place. He had no blood relations there. Of course, Dante and Vergil were just cousins but they weren't exactly brothers. He knew that he shouldn't care about hints like that at the moment. Vergil needed help. He needed the water out of his system. But there was a feeling, deep inside, wanting him to kill every single person in that room. He shook his head. Light, Serah, Fang, Zelda, Vergil, Link and Dante were there with the Zora boy and two girls. He needed their help to get rid of the Crystal Cloud that came in the castle those days ago. He shouldn't kill them. They needed his help too.
"Nero?" Serah stood in front of him, waking him out of his thoughts.
"Oh. Yeah? What's up?"
"I...I need to talk to you. It's important."
"Alright then."
Nero got up from his chair that was next to Vergil's bed by his feet. Link saw him get up and got up himself, forcing him back into the same seat.
Link pushed him back slightly. "You need to rest."
"But can't-"
"No. Sit down."
"But-"
"Sit."
"Wow. You sound like my brother!"
Reluctantly, he sat down, mouthing the word 'sorry' to Serah. He closed his eyes, trying to sleep. Serah just stayed with Zelda who hadn't spoken since they had got there. Serah beckoned her to come downstairs. Zelda followed still as silent as the graveyard. Serah needed to try and get her to speak. Zelda sat down on a crate and yet again didn't say a word. Midna appeared too after quite a long time. She, too, remained silent.
Serah stared at the two of them. "I've noticed something change within Light. She's more happy. But she's still her old fighter self."
Midna looked up. "Well, I guess she just loves having you back."
"Yes. Serah, before she knew you were alive, she promised to hunt down every demon and monster from the face of the Earth. She attacked the devils. You've brought hope back into her life."
The subject was dropped and the princesses became silent again.
Serah sighed. "I know what you're thinking. About the previous time. You don't understand. We are here to help! You're not alone anymore! Being silent won't help change anything."
Zelda looked at her. "You don't understand. You don't know what we went through. I couldn't do anything to help my people and Midna did what I could've done. What I should've done."
Serah turned her back on the two. "Actually, I did. I was the one who couldn't do anything when Fang was being tortured into becoming Ragnarok. I couldn't do anything when my sister was suffering from the inside. I put her through all that. I have no idea what will happen to me when I get into Cocoon. I was crystallized before Light became a l'cie. Tell me I don't know how you feel." She turned around again and the princesses had their heads hung down in shame. Serah sighed. "I'm going to get some water for the Zora boy."
She walked into the kitchen, picked up a glass and filled it with water. She walked out of the kitchen and walked up the stairs without a glance towards the two sitting on the crates. On reaching the top of the stairs, she walked into the room where everybody was. The Zora boy seemed to look at her then the glass of water. She walked up to him and handed him the glass and smiled. She sat down next to Light and used her lap as a pillow.
