This was all Riley's fault. She was the reason we were in jail. Well, a holding cell. She was the reason for all of this, for insisting on the five of us forming Lemonade Mouth after that fateful day in detention. She wanted to start a revolution, she wanted to make a difference. And while for a moment in time, we felt like we were on top of the world, everything came crashing down as quickly as it had started.

And now the five of us are in jail; our parents were gonna kill us. Who were the five of us, you may ask? We got Riley, our lead guitarist; Farkle, our bass player; Lucas, our drum player; Zay, our keyboard specialist; and me, Maya, our lead singer.

"I can't believe you got us into this mess." I groan, slamming my head in the wall. My mom was gonna kill me, that is, if she actually finds the time to come pick me up. She'll probably end up sending my grandma. Why couldn't that stupid coin land on tails instead?

"Okay, heads, we do this." Lucas says, gesturing around at the five of us. We were at the pizza place, debating whether or not we should actually form this band. "Tails, we don't."

Lucas flips the coin, the five of us watching in anticipation. We lean in, looking at the coin as it lands on the table.

Heads.

"I'm sorry, but they were taking away the lemonade machine!" Riley exclaims, huffing in frustration. I run a hand through my wet hair. The five of us had tried to stop the two workers from grabbing the machine, only to end up attacking them, desperately trying to stop them.

"There's no way I'm moving from here." Riley says in determination, sitting on top of the lemonade machine.

"Look girl, could you do us all a favor and just get down from there!?" One of the workers cries in frustration.

"I'm not moving." Riley huffs. The two workers glance at each other before shrugging and pry Riley off.

"Hey, get away from her!" I shouted the best I can, launching myself at them. In retrospect, that probably wasn't the best idea. I felt Lucas, Farkle, and Zay join in, following my lead.

And that's when the cops showed up in their stupid car, blaring the siren.

"There's no way we'll be able to play at Rising Star now." Farkle says, glancing around at all of us. "I mean, look at us. Zay's got a swollen black eye, Lucas has three broken fingers, Maya's losing her voice, and I have a 105 fever. Not to mention, our parents will probably ground us for life and won't let us play anyways."

"How is it that you're completely fine?" Zay complains, looking at Riley.

Riley shrugs her shoulders. "How is it that you guys are completely not fine?" She says back.

"You know why I'm losing my voice." I rasp out, glaring at her. Riley shifts uncomfortably.

"My mom asked me to be the maid of honor." Riley says.

"Riley, that's great news!" I exclaim. Her mom, Topanga, was getting married to Cory.

"No." Riley scoffs. "That's terrible news. Just because Cory wormed his way into my family, doesn't mean I have to be happy about it."

I shake my head. "You're ridiculous." I say.

Riley glares at me before getting up, beginning to walk away. "Riley, where are you going? We have to talk about tomorrow!"

"What's there to talk about?" Riley shouts.

"Oh, so you just want to quit?" I say.

"You just be happy that you're off the hook and you don't have to go on stage anymore!" Riley yells, referencing my stage fright.

"No, no, no, Riley. This isn't about Lemonade Mouth." I say, walking closer to her, our faces inches apart. "This about you not appreciating what you have! You have a family! Your mom, your brother, Cory! I barely spend any time with my mom and I haven't seen my dad in years and you have the nerve to feel sorry for yourself!? You know what, fine, let's give up." I say, walking away from her. "I didn't even want to be in this band in the first place."

"Then why did you do it!?" Riley shouts.

"FOR YOU, YOU JERK!" I scream at the top of my lungs, attracting the attention of everyone on the street. Riley's eyes widen. "I did it for you." I say quietly, riding away on my bike.

"Uh, why exactly are you losing your voice?" Zay asks. He goes to sit down on the bench in the cell, but due to his black eye, misses by several inches, landing on the ground with a thud. "Ow."

Lucas and Farkle snicker. "Shut up!" Zay groans, waving his embarrassment off.

I don't answer the question and duck from Riley's gaze.

"Hmm... My guess is that something is going on between these two." Zay says, pointing at us. "Something that they don't want to tell us." Zay strokes his chin, pretending that he has a goatee.

"Zay, would you quit doing that? You're never gonna grow facial hair!" Lucas rolls his eyes.

"I will too!" Zay exclaims.

"We're seniors and you still don't have any facial hair. I mean, even Farkle has a five o'clock shadow!" Lucas says.

"What's that supposed to mean!?" Farkle shouts. The three of them started bickering on the stupid topic of facial hair for about five minutes before, finally, Riley shuts them up.

"Shut up people! Nobody cares if you have facial hair or not!" She exclaims, rolling her eyes. "Boys." She scoffs.

"It's not like girls are much better." I say quietly, sending Riley another glare.

"Maya, I'm sorry." She says gently, walking up to me. "You were right, okay? I was being selfish, I wasn't appreciating what I have." She grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers. I try my best to stay mad at her, keeping my death glare on my face.

"Okay, what's it gonna take for you to forgive me?" Riley asks. She stops for a second, thinking before her face lights up. She steps away from me and walks to an empty space in the cell.

"I feel like a real... jerkface." She begins, making my glare turn into a confused look. What was she doing?

"I'm a jerkface, I was wrong." She begins singing and doing a ridiculous dance move. "I dance for you and sing this song! Jerkface, jerkface, jerkface!" She does a big finish.

Farkle, Lucas, and Zay burst out laughing while I'm struggling to keep a smile off my face. "W-w-what was that?" I ask, trying not to join in with the laughter.

"The Jerkface Song." Riley replies. "It's how my brother and I apologize to each other. The stupider you look, the sorrier you are."

"Maya, will you forgive me?" She asks, making her way back over to me. "Please?" She adds, compassion in her eyes.

"As long as you forgive me for this." I say.

"What-" Riley is cut off by my lips on hers. Farkle, Zay, and Lucas start cheering.

"Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!" Lucas hoots.

"Go Rilaya!" Farkle shouts.

"RILAYA FOR THE WIN!!!!" Zay exclaims.

With the band back on track, we were ready for Rising Star. Unfortunately, our injuries prevented us from winning. But, it doesn't matter though. We had accomplished our original goal, to make a difference.

The awe on our faces as the audience began singing Determinate for us, the feeling of amazement. The same people who we gave a voice to through Lemonade Mouth were now the same people who were giving us a voice. We had done it, we started a revolution.
