"Yyyyyaaaaaayyyy Maya!" I shout at the top of my lungs. "It's our one year anniversary!" I shoot my girlfriend an earsplitting smile. I flash back to when we had first started dating, back in the dreaded ski lodge. Zay had said it was a total plot twist, how we chose each other instead of Lucas.

Maya laughs at my goofiness, making my chest flutter. How is it that one year later she still has this effect on me?

"Here we are." Lucas says, sending us a small smile. He was driving us to this fancy restaurant since he was the only one out of the five of us who had a license. I smile back at him. When Maya and I got together, all he has done was support us. There were no hard feelings between us, Lucas had even said he should've seen it coming.

"Thanks Lucas." I say, opening the car door.

"Yeah, thanks Huckleberry." Maya adds, quickly getting out of the car and running over to my side.

"Maya, I can get out of the car by myself." I say, rolling my eyes but secretly admiring the gesture.

"Yeah I know. But that doesn't mean that I can't still treat you like the princess you are." Maya says, making me flush. She grabs my hand and we walk in the restaurant together. Before we enter, I glance back at Lucas who was still watching us in the car and give him a quick wave.

He waves back and salutes to us before driving off.

"Wow, look at this place. It's so expensive." My eyes widen at the menu.

"Order whatever you want. My treat." Maya says, scanning the menu as well.

"What!? No Maya, I'm not gonna let you waste your money." I protest.

"Honey, it's okay. I've been saving up for this." Maya reassures me, intertwining our hands again.

Before I could protest again, the waitress comes. "Hi, my name is Amy and I'll be your waitress for tonight." She flashes me a bright smile that fades when she sees Maya. Huh.

"What would you like to drink, beautiful?" She asks me, her smile returning. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Maya glaring daggers at the girl.

"Oh um, I'll just have some water." I reply awkwardly.

"Water, got it." Amy sends me another smile. It curves into a frown when she turns to Maya. "And what do you want?" She asks, sounding exasperated. Maya's eyes narrow. She growls out the drink she wants, sending another death glare at Amy.

"I'll be back with those drinks." Amy chirps, ignoring Maya's obvious hatred towards her.

"Maya?" I ask. Her murderous gaze was still trained on Amy. When she looks back at me, she softens. "Sorry Riles."

"There's nothing to apologize for." I say, leaning in. She leans in as well. Before we could kiss, Amy interrupts us by basically slamming Maya's drink down. "Ooops!" She says. "Sorry, I can be such a klutz at times."

Amy then gently sets my drink down. Maya's death glare was back. If looks could kill, Amy would already be in a coffin buried deep in the ground.

"What would you like to have tonight, um- can I have your name?" Amy asks.

"Riley." I respond, glancing back at Maya, who was clutching her drink so tightly her fingers were turning white.

"Riley. What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl like you." Amy flirts, ignoring Maya once again. If it was possible, Maya's eyes seemed to darken even more from Amy's words.

While it was cute that Maya was getting jealous over me, I didn't want her to spend our anniversary like this.

"You know what?" I begin, glancing back at Maya and giving her a reassuring look. "We made a mistake coming here. Come on Maya, let's go to the fro-yo place a couple blocks from here."

Maya immediately begins to protest, as well as Amy. I ignore both of them and grab Maya's arm, leading her out of the restaurant.

"Honey, you didn't have to do that." Maya complains, glancing back at the restaurant.

"Yes I did, I wasn't gonna let that girl ruin our anniversary. But it was cute how you got jealous over me." I add, smiling when I see Maya blush.

"Besides," I continue. "That place was too fancy for me. I'd much rather get some fro-yo." I reassure Maya. Our anniversary wasn't ruined, not even close. It doesn't matter how fancy our date was, even if it was our one year anniversary.

"But-" Maya begins to protest again. I stop walking and turn to face her. "Maya, I don't care what we do. As long as I'm with you, I'm happy." I say, my words 100% true. Glad that I finally convinced Maya, I grab her hand and we walk together to the fro-yo place.

The fro-yo place was mostly empty, except for one person that was sitting at a table, quietly eating their yogurt. Upon closer examination, I see that it was a certain cowboy from Texas.

"Lucas? What are you doing here?" I ask.

"Riley? Maya?" He says, just as surprised as we were. "I just stopped here to get some frozen yogurt. The better question is why are you guys here, I thought you were eating at the restaurant."

"We decided not to eat there for certain reasons." I say, giving a knowing look back at Maya, who was slowly turning red at the mention of the restaurant.

Lucas raises an eyebrow. "Okay, I won't ask. I'll just get out of your hair now." He exits the store, not before saying a quick goodbye.

Maya and I quickly grabbed a cup and began loading it with all kinds of flavors. I scooped a little bit of yogurt on my hand. "Hey Maya." I say. She turns around.

"What?" Maya asks. I responded by booping her on the nose, leaving traces of fro-yo. She gives a cute squeak, not expecting it. Maya then gives me a little glare that turns into a playful smirk.

I frown, not liking the look on her face. "Maya?" I ask fearfully. "What are you doing?" I slowly back away from her. She answers by flinging her own fro-yo in my face. I yelp.

This was the start of a huge fro-yo fight, with us just flinging yogurt at each other. I scoop up a handful of yogurt and dump it on her head, smiling as I watch it slide down her adorable face. Maya retaliates with her own, smashing some fruity mint swirl right on the center of my face.

We fling more yogurt at each other but eventually stop. The two of us burst out laughing at the site of each other. I give her a quick sloppy kiss, tasting the peach yogurt on her lips. "Peaches, you taste like peaches!" I exclaim, licking my own lips.

Maya goes in to kiss me again, but is stopped by someone clearing their throat. We look up to find the store manager who had his arms crossed, giving us a stern look.

I glance around at the mess we had created, whoops. The manager gives us one last look before saying "Alright, I'm feeling nice today and I'm always a sucker for young love. So how about this. You guys clean this up." He gestures at the mess. "And we can forget this has ever happened."

I give him a grateful smile. He walks away, leaving us to clean up. After we took care of the mess, Maya and I went to the park. We sat on the grass together, cuddled up, and just watched the night sky.

"Well tonight may not have gone as planned, but it was still the best day of my life." I say. Maya smiles at me. "Mine too."

"Look." I point my finger to the sky. "Shooting star. Make a wish Maya."

"I don't need to." Maya says while putting her head on my shoulder. "I have everything I need right here."
