I just noticed this, but are we going to talk about how Riley/Rowan is pulling Maya/Sabrina out of harms way?
"There's no way." Lucas scoffs.
"I can too!" I exclaim.
"Maya, no matter how 'irresistible' you think you are with the girls-" Lucas starts, only for me to cut him off.
"Think? Huckleberry, I know I am." I smirk, making Lucas rolls his eyes. "Watch." I say, winking at a girl who passes us by. She immediately flushes, speeding up her pace, head ducked down in embarrassment.
"See?"
"Yeah, I get it, okay? You're so smooth with the ladies." Lucas says, his voice laced with sarcasm. "But there is still no way you can get her to fall for you." He glances back at the brunette by her locker. I think she was in my chemistry class and I always see her hanging out with this kid named Farkle. She was infamous for never even going on a date, having rejected every boy or girl who asked her.
"You wanna bet?" I raise an eyebrow, confident about this.
"Twenty bucks." Lucas says. "And you have to do it in two weeks or I win."
"Deal." I smirk, holding out my hand, sure that I was about to score the easiest twenty bucks I have ever made. We shake on it.
"Now watch and learn." I say, waltzing over to the brunette. "Hi." I smile warmly at her, closing her locker so I can see her better. I nearly faint when I actually look at her, awed by her beauty. The warm, chocolate brown eyes, brown locks curled perfectly, a cute little button nose, bright, plump pink lips that make me wonder how they'll feel against mine. I shake my head, telling myself to stop. I was supposed to make her fall for me, not the other way around.
"I'm Maya." I say, snapping out of my stupor. "And you are?"
"Not interested." The girl scowls at me. All of a suddenly, her whole demeanor had changed. Her eyes only held coldness now, lips curled into a snarl. Without another word, she walks away from me.
Did I just get....rejected? I glance back at Lucas, glaring at him when I see the laugh making its way up his throat. He bursts out laughing, nearly choking on his own saliva. I wish he did.
"Maybe you should just give me the money now! It'll save you a bunch of time and effort!" Lucas shouts, currently rolling on the floor in laughter.
"Shut up!" I snap. "You haven't won yet, I still have two weeks!"
Linebreak
"Hang on, class." The teacher says, stopping everyone's conversation. "We're doing a partner activity today."
Everyone cheers, that is, until the teacher says his next sentence. "I will be assigning the partners."
Everyone groans.
