The third year of Hogwarts meant that we could finally go to Hogsmeade. Zay and I made our way out of the castle, ready to explore the mystical wonders of Hogsmeade. I would've gone with Riley, but she said she already made plans to go with Lucas, making the jealous monster inside of me ramp up.

"Where shall we go first Hart?" Zay asks.

"Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. Duh." I say. The place was a gold mine, I don't know how George Weasley does it.

After an eventful trip around Hogsmeade, going to WWW, Honeydukes (where I got a bag full of cauldron cakes; it was my favorite sweet ever since Riley bought some for me), Zonko's Joke Shop, the Shrieking Shack, and longing glances at the newest Firebolt displayed at the Quidditch shop, Zay and I went to the Three Broomsticks for some butterbeers.

While Zay was ordering for us, I glance around the Inn and frown when noticing Riley and Lucas were there, snuggled up together while enjoying some butterbeers. My craving for butterbeers was suddenly gone.

"We'll take them to go." I say to the Inn Keeper. Zay flashes me a quizzical glance before realizing Riley and Lucas were here. He doesn't object and instead, agrees.

We grab our butterbeers, ready to leave. Before we left, Riley noticed that I was here and gave me a quick wave. I smiled sadly at her and waved back before leaving with Zay.

"Unrequited love. Never a nice feeling." Zay comments, sipping on his butterbeer. I snort when he pulls the cup away from his mouth, a butterbeer moustache forming on the top of his lip.

"Just shut up Zay." I say, not in the mood. We went to a couple more stores. I made sure to buy Riley, Farkle, Zay, and Lucas's presents for Christmas (although I really didn't want to get Lucas a gift).

I gasp when opening Riley's present. She smiles at me. "You like it?"

I gently take the Firebolt out of the box. It was the same one that I had been admiring in Hogsmeade a couple weeks ago. "Riley, you shouldn't have." This thing had to have been worth a fortune.

Riley smiles brightly at me. "It wasn't just from me. Farkle chipped in as well. You could think of it as a gift from the both of us."

I respond by crushing her in a hug, trying to ignore the part of me that wanted to do way more than hug her.

As I promised to myself, Slytherin won the Quidditch cup this year. And it was all thanks to Riley and Farkle, who bought me the Firebolt. I cheer with the rest of my house.

"HART! HART! HART HART!" My house chanted. Zay and another guy lifted me on their shoulders. I had single handedly brought Slytherin the victory, thanks to the advantage of the Firebolt.

I smirk at the Gryffindor table who were all sending me glares. I lock eyes with Lucas, who was glaring at me and I stick my tongue out in response. I shift my gaze to Farkle, who was cheering me on as well and then to Riley. I smile brightly at her and she returns it, making my heart flutter in happiness.

Unfortunately, my happiness didn't last very long. During fourth year, Riley and Lucas finally became a couple. Hogwarts had hosted a Yule Ball and Riley and Lucas ended up going together. Since Zay and I were both dateless, we decided to go together as friends. Even Farkle had found himself a date, this girl named Smackle.

I had spent the night watching Riley and Lucas having a good time together. My heart shattered when, at the end of the night, they kissed and were officially a couple. I remember feeling overwhelmed, the world felt like it was spinning. Everything came crashing down and I was hyperventilating. I had felt weak and vulnerable, about to puke everything I had ate earlier.

Zay ended up having to carry me to my bed that night.

I glance at the couple. They were sitting together at the Gryffindor table, hand in hand, smiling like a couple of dorks.

"Come on Hart, cheer up." Zay says, stuffing his mouth with bacon.

Before I could say anything to him, Farkle appears at our table. "Hey Maya, Zay." Farkle says, glancing back at the Gryffindor table. "Sup dude." Zay says with a mouthful of bacon, bacon bits flying everywhere.

Farkle gives him a disgusted look. "How are you doing Maya?" Farkle asks, sympathy in his eyes.

"Just dandy." I reply, continuing to look at the happy couple. Why couldn't that be me with Riley? What was so special about Lucas that he had her blushing as soon as he walked in the compartment four years ago?

I broke away from Riley this year, barley spending any time with her. I purposely avoided her. If I saw her and Lucas acting like a couple together one more time, I was gonna punch somebody. Riley had tried to talk to me, but I couldn't do it. I couldn't just be friends with her, I wanted to be more.

Slytherin won the Quidditch Cup again this year, but I would've traded all of the victories for just one kiss from Riley.

I sigh as I enter the Hogwarts Express once again, ready for fifth year. It was the most stressful one of all, as there were OWLs. I glance at the compartment, where I had sat with Riley, Lucas, and Farkle every year. This year was no different, with the three of them sitting together once again.

Riley sees me outside the window and her eyes were shining, hoping that I would join them. I couldn't do it. I wasn't gonna watch Riley and Lucas be all mushy for the entire trip. I pretended to ignore her, pretended that I couldn't see the sadness in her eyes as I walked past the compartment.

I ended up sitting with Zay for the first time. He looked up, surprised to see me here. "Shouldn't you be with Riley and them?" He asks quizzically before looking back at his newspaper.

I don't respond and the two of us sit in silence for the rest of the trip.

I was right about fifth year being the most stressful, my schedule was jam packed. Between Quidditch practices and homework, I had no time to do anything fun.

I had also tried to get over Riley. I started dating a bunch of different guys, none of our relationships lasting for over a week. It just didn't feel right, none of it felt right. Down in my heart, I knew that there was only one person who would make me happy. And it was the one person I couldn't have.
