"Bye Maya." Farkle says and gathers me in a hug. Everyone was at Topanga's. The high five, Cory and Topanga, my mom and Shawn. Well, everyone except Riley. My chest gives a pang of sadness. I was accepted into this prestigious art school on the other side of the country. And now, I'm saying my goodbyes.

When Riley had found out, she got upset. Yelled at me about how I abandoned her, how we were supposed to go to high school together. She wouldn't speak to me and every day it feels like another part of me has died. I love her. No, I'm in love with her. And now she hates me.

My flight leaves in two hours and I had to be at the airport in one. Once Farkle releases me, Lucas walks over.

"Hey Huckleberry, make sure to take care of her." My voice cracks. Lucas frowns at me, knowing my secret. "Maya, she'll come. She has to come, she has to say goodbye!" Lucas says, sounding like he was trying to convince himself more than he was convincing me.

"It's Riley we're talking about! She values your friendship more than anything." Lucas says. He looks me dead in the eyes. "She'll come. I'll make sure of that."

I give him a small smile. "Thanks Lucas." I give him a hug and quickly pull away. He had shock on his face. "You just called me by my real name and hugged me!"

I roll my eyes. "Try to keep up Ranger Rick." I push him away, ready for the next person to say goodbye. Zay strolls his way over.

"Well sugar, I guess this is it." He starts tearing up. "Zay, are you crying?" I raise an eyebrow.

"I'm bad at goodbyes okay! Don't judge me!" He shouts before gathering me into a bone crushing hug. My breath is knocked out of me as Zay holds me tight.

"Okay Zay, you're cutting off her air supply." Farkle says, pulling him away. I gasp in relief as air fills my lungs again. While I'm still collecting myself, it was Cory and Topanga's turn.

"Maya, I just wanted to say that you feel like a second daughter to us." Cory begins. "Yeah, you're like family." Topanga continues. "And we are so proud of you for getting into this school. You have real talent."

I give them a watery smile and I'm the first to go in for a hug. "Thanks." I say softly. They give me another smile and step away, Shawn taking their place.

He was driving me to the airport so he didn't have to say goodbye just yet. "I love you, you know that?"

Those couple words he said was all it took for me to fly into his arms. "She's not here." I murmur, crying softly. The love of my life hadn't even come to say goodbye. Shawn strokes my head. "I know Maya, I know. But she'll come. I promise." He says, making a promise that he couldn't keep. We both knew that.

We pull away. "I'll start putting your luggage in the car." Shawn says, grabbing a couple of my suitcases. Cory goes to help.

Finally, it was time for my mom and I to say goodbye. She was already crying, shedding tears of joy. "My baby girl is going to the best art school in the country!" She blows her nose into a tissue, then proceeds to crush me into a hug even stronger than Zay's.

We stay this way for a while, but eventually have to pull away due to time constraints. She gives me a watery, proud smile and goes back to where she was sitting before. Shawn and Cory were done with the luggage, meaning that it was time to leave.

"I'll wait for you in the car." Shawn announces.

I look around the bakery, everyone was smiling at me. I wait a couple seconds, hoping that Riley will run in at the last minute. When it became clear that she wasn't, I look down. "I really thought she was gonna at least say goodbye." I sniff, looking down at my shoes.

"Bye guys. I'll see you around Christmas." I say my final goodbye to them, giving them a small wave. I get in the car and Shawn drives away. We were already late.

"Wait! I'm here! Did I miss it!?" Riley shouts, running into Topanga's. She trips and falls, slamming to the ground with a thud. Lucas helps her up. "She left about ten minutes ago." He says, breaking the news to her.

"No!" Riley sighs, collapsing on a chair. "I can't believe I did that! I didn't even say goodbye to her!" She shouts, putting her head in her hands.

"She'll be back when it's Christmas time." Farkle says optimistically, trying to cheer his friend up.

"That's too late! I was gonna tell her that I love her!" Riley shouts, then freezes when realizing she just confessed to everyone. She turns to everyone, waiting for their reaction.

It was dead silent for a couple minutes, with everyone's mouth hanging open. All that was heard was the humming of the refrigerator. Finally, Farkle closed his mouth and was the first to speak. "Yes!"

And with that, everyone began to cheer as well. Riley looks around in confusion. "Riley, everyone knew that you guys loved each other. I mean, you had pet names for each other." Lucas says, explaining to her.

"Wait, so you're saying that Maya loves me back?" Riley says, the hope shining in her eyes. Everyone nods their head.

"Come on Riley." Cory says, gesturing to the car. "What? What are we doing?" Riley asks.

"We're gonna catch Maya at the airport so you can get your goodbye!" Cory states as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Everyone cheers once again.

"Last call for passengers boarding flight 1747." The flight attendant calls. I sigh. I was really gonna do this, I was gonna leave my family and friends and life in New York behind.

I slowly shuffle my way over, dreading the moment I step foot in the airplane. "Ticket please?" The attendant asks, giving me a warm smile.

I slowly reach my hand out to give it to her. "Wait!" I hear a voice call. I turn around in confusion to see Riley running towards me. Cory was a couple feet behind her, along with airport security.

"Maya!" She shouts. She runs up to me, stopping a couple inches before we could collide. "Maya, I'm sorry I got upset. I'm sorry for everything I said! You probably hate me now and never want to see me again, but I still need to say a goodbye." Riley says, tears shining.

The security was among us now. "Stop!" The attendant says to them. "Let them have their goodbye." Luckily, the officers obey.

I give her a thankful smile that she returns. "Maya, I love you. Not like a sister, but in the way that my dad loves my mom." Riley says, shocking me down to the bone. When I recover from my shock, I find Riley ranting about who knows what.

I cut her off with a kiss, something that I had wanted to do since I was ten. Her lips were soft, feeling like heaven. We pull away, both sporting a grin on our face. "I'll see you at Christmas Riley. It's the only present I'll need." I say while giving my ticket to the attendant.

Riley smiles at me. I turn and walk into the tube connecting to the airplane. I can do this. After all, I had Riley.
