"Lucas?" I say, knowing that there was something bothering my...um...boyfriend. The word felt so strange to say. It was nothing against him, he was a great guy and all but I don't think I want a great guy, not when the most perfect girl in the world was my best friend.

"Riley, I've been avoiding something for a while now." Lucas sighs, stopping his search for my teddy bear and sitting down by the bay window.

I follow him, sitting next to him, confused at where this was going. "What's wrong?"

"I know." He says.

"K-know what?" I ask, heart racing in fear.

He couldn't know, could he?

"I know that you have more than sisterly feelings for Maya." Lucas says, confirming my worst fear. "And I've been trying to ignore it, but it's been bothering me every day."

"I...I..." I struggle to find the words. "I'm sorry." I whisper, not sure what else to say.

"Don't be." Lucas sends me a little smile. "I haven't been honest with you either. To tell you the truth, I didn't think that this relationship was going anywhere. The spark is gone."

My eyes widen at his confession, surprised that my feelings about this relationship was mutual.

"So let's not pretend anymore." Lucas says. "Friends?"

I nod, feeling like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. "Friends."

"Oh yeah, there's one more thing." He says, grabbing my attention again.

"What is it?" I ask.

"What we had may not have been real, but you and Maya's special relationship is. I want you to tell her the truth." Lucas says, looking me right in the eye.

"Oh no, you're not going to pull a Farkle, are you?" I ask, shuddering when I think back to New Year's.

Lucas lets out a little laugh at the mention of the boy genius's crazy antics. "No, you don't need to worry about that." He chuckles, making me smile as well. Because that's all we were, like brother and sister. We help each other out and are at our best when we just talk to each other.

"The only person who's going to tell her is you." Lucas says. "Please, Riley. You can't hide your feelings forever."

"Okay." I agree, knowing that I can't let him down. He was right anyways. I tried to hide my feelings on New Year's, only for the truth to be revealed and for it to create an even bigger mess than before. Somehow, no matter what, the truth will always come out (most likely by the boy idiot/genius named Farkle).

"Really?" Lucas says in surprise. "I thought it was going to take a lot more than that. I had a whole speech prepared and everything on Rilaya."

"On what now?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Rilaya, your ship name. Farkle came up with it, actually." Lucas says.

"Wait. Farkle knows!?" I exclaim.

"Yeah, he was the first one to realize. You really couldn't have expected him NOT to find out, could you?" He says.

"Wait. First one to realize!? Who else knows!?" I shout.

Was I really that obvious?

Lucas ponders this for a moment before responding with "Probably everyone except for Maya, actually."

"You're kidding, right?" I say, mouth dropping open.

Lucas smiles, shaking his head. "Now come on, let's go find Maya."
