My body healed as a human. It was regulation now set by the king that I must stay in human form as not to set off alarm or to scare anyone. Though in honesty, it was because I they feared I would turn on them.

I counted a month. The days never went by more boringly. I was either being dragged around the castle by the princess or being taught "lessons". If I was to be among humans, I was to act, sleep, eat, and look like one.

I was stuffed into human clothing and taught human ways. It was tiring and nothing like our traditions. Though, I doubt any human could dress in gold and stand the burning heat of dragons breath.

Oddly enough, even after the princess had been punished, she never hated me. I couldn't see the scars on her back but I had smelled them when they were fresh. I could smell the leather of the whip and I could see how it pained her to move. She was also healing slowly.

"Syferus. Shall you be accompanying me to the garden?"

I had started to pay attention to what she wore the more I saw her. But no matter what it was she looked gorgeous. Today was purple, embroidered in gold and silver. Her hair was pinned to her head and braided around. She looked elegant and graceful as always.

"Yes princess. If that is what you desire, I shall." I had to be stuffed into uncomfortable brown trousers and a plainly dressed white shirt.

"I see the lessons are paying off." She giggled as we shuffled along side each other.

"You could almost say I'm a prisoner to the art." I scoffed and turned the corner towards the garden. She chuckled and gripped her waist from laughing.

"Such cruel jokes."

"Am I lying?" I said raising a brow.

"Honestly I am not entirely sure what you are." She smiled and ran towards the garden playfully galloping.

I chased after, I was pretty fast and caught up easily to her. She ran across the flower bed and into the taller grasses. I hopped over the flowers, making sure not to crush any. I liked flowers. They reminded me of Aura. She was Spring to me— always near and far whenever you would think of her.

I caught her skirt stopping her mid run.

"Are we children?" I said breathlessly. I couldn't deny the fun it sparked within me. It brought  me back the times when we would play as children. Aura would always run into my fathers maze and I would sniff her out. It was easy. She always smelled of lavender.

Actually, even now, the lavender from her baths remained. She hasn't changed.

No she had. She had grown kinder, stronger, and more beautiful.

I remember the first time as children I showed her my real form. She cried. I tried comforting her but she was so frightened she ran to her mother and told her mother I had been swallowed up

I laughed at how naive she had been. She still looked at me sometimes as if I was swallowed. She worried for me. A human worried about a dragon. How funny was that.

"I guess I am it." Her voice brought me back.

" Yes but you could never catch me." I said turning to run.
