What would my father think of me now. Three dead dragons at my feet, my kin cowering in the corner, and my uncle and I standing face to face ready to kill each other.
"You insolent little fool! Just like your father! A dragon king this, a dragon king that! You deserve a death just as his was!" He hissed and backed away towards the door. We had stalked each other for a while now. Sizing each other up and waiting for the moment to strike.
"He was your brother.. How could you say this?" I growled.
"Because hatred is thicker than blood." He scoffed as he pulled his sword forward. "When he died I was to be king, you are a mistake, an abomination."
I couldn't help but get worked up. I was the prince! I was the rightful owner of the throne.
"Jealousy is thicker than your skull you mean. You're delusional and powerless. You want something you can never have. You wanted to be my father!" I pulled my sword towards him. I wouldn't hesitate to slice him in half.
He started to chuckle and his stalked stopped. He was frozen there and his fear seemed to melt. The hair on the back of my neck stood up.
"Syferus... You are barely the heir to the throne. Your father was a traitor just as you are. Your mother? The oh so beautiful dragon queen? Was nothing more than a disgusting half blood as yourself."
"Shut up! You're a liar. You know nothing."
"Oh my dear boy...you know nothing. You are still hasty to reject the truth. Your mother was not a dragon. She was the daughter of a lowly forest nymph and dracon who ran off. She wasn't royalty she just happened to have a dracons powers. Lucky her. Never the less her blood was tainted as yours is."
My fire started to burn its hottest.
"Lies..." My voice came soft and trembling...he knew...why had my parent's never told me? To protect me?
"Dragons who have pure blood don't have trouble flying...unlike someone." a devilish grin spread across his face.
"Why do you think your mother and father never told you about your power? They didn't want to be wrong about their little savior. Your ability to control other dragons? You aren't the first. You simply inherited that power from your father. You aren't a savior. Nor are you a king."
It was moment where I didnt feel anything, there was just actions, I couldn't hear anything but my heartbeat as I pounced on him. We fought for what seemed like forever. I felt the sweat escape every pore as my body heated way beyond human standings.
I lunged and he blocked. We held this dance for a while as time flew by. the clanging of swords. The vicious roars. We were not men, we were beasts and we acted as such. Clawing each other and digging our claws into flesh.
I bit down into his neck as i pinned him to the floor. He let lose a blood chortling scream. I would kill this man with no remorse. I would kill him and then I would burn this castle to the ground. My father and his brother would share the same fate.
It would be a fitting end for another dragon king.
