I paced the halls pike a mad man. I was the King! Yet the midwives held their ground. It must have been twenty of the old haha and they wouldn't let me enter the room. I could hear Aura's cries from inside and it made my fire burn even more. I needed to be with her!

"Let me in!" I growled at the head midwife. She was an old mage Elf and she was about as stubborn as a tree.

"Not a chance my king. Childbirth is secluded. No men allowed!" Her old voice crackled in my ears and irked me even more. I wanted to rip her to shreds. My heart raced as I paced.

Alvaria pressed a hand firmly on my shoulder.

"Relax. She will be fine. Once Sorrael come's you can go in. Be patient."

I didn't have time for this. I pushed past a good amount of the midwives before the same stubborn head got in my way.

"No!" She struck me on the head with her staff. "I've had enough of you! Go sit!" I growled but obeyed. For some reason I felt as if this is what a grandmother would feel like.

Muller was planning the birthing party in my stead. No doubt already drinking a good amount of the rum there was to be served.

It felt like hours of foot tapping, pacing, and even a short nap away before I heard any real alarms. There was a shreik and I jumped up.

"SIT!" The head demanded. I stood still but didn't sit. She headed into the door and a younger midwife came out. It was time. I heard the head tell Aura to push and the rest she would take care of. Aura agreed and pushed. with every push came a scream of pain that shot me in the heart.

Crying....there was crying. I sprinted towards the door that opened once I got to it. The small angry midwife looked up at me with her cranky face that melted into a smile.

"She did well. Come inside." She moved so that I could race to Auras side.

I planed my knees at the side of the bedding as I looked at them. Goddesses had to paint this picture. Aura held in her arms a tiny squirming child swaddled in blankets. It was bald from head to toe.

I felt droplets hit my hands...I was crying. I didnt care to wipe them away. Aura handed me the bundle and I was scared holding it. What of it fell? What if I crushed it?

The child squirmed in my arms and did weird mouth movements. Sorrael opened her eyes and looked at me. I almost fainted.

"Syferus! Hold her right." I got scolded as Aura pulled me to sit on the bed next to her and adjust the bundle in my arms.

"She's making mouth movements. What does that mean?" I said handing Sorrael to her. She pulled her clothing away exposing her breast and pulled Sorrael to her.

.......ooooooooohhhhhhh

Yes... That's what children want. I felt foolish. She was hungry. Aura laughed at me and the mage hit me again. I growled at her but smiled as I welcomed her close. Alvaria, Muller, Alvaro, all crowded around.

In the months I had been gone I had learned that shalm had taken off on his own to a far away land to atone for his sins and be cleansed. He swore to return before Sorrael had grown to a woman.

Sorrael was just as beautiful as I had imagined.
