My heart held a strong blaze as we walked the halls towards the ball. The music was roaring and the sound of laughter was flooding my ears, but all I could concentrate on was the sound of my heart.
It was a fast beat that matched the sway of her hair and hips, she glowed profoundly. She held the gaze of every nobleman, council member, prince, and princess present. She was magnificent.
Though I also got attention, I am sure it was far less for my handsome features than it was for my heritage.
We stopped as we graced the court and bowed to the kings. All four kings sat present.
King Huburus of course glared at me, I could feel the hatred. King Shalm was still, I could no longer tell how he felt about the matter. I had to hope I was still in his good graces.
King Mulur was a silly king. A fat bellied jolly king who ruled over the eastern kingdoms. The kingdom of dwarves.
King Alvaria was a woman. She was a sharp eyed king with a serious demeanor, she would demand no less respect than any other ruler. Though my father was told me she was a softie in certain circles. She ruled over the fairy kingdom. The four kings waved us away and we joined the other royal members in wait of the commencement of the ball.
"This is exciting wouldn't you say Syferus." The princess smiled away. She was as a child in a wonderland.
"Yes, very." I said replacing a run away hair. A nearby prince, probably a child of King Huburus, gave me a nasty look of disapproval. I could have sworn I had heard him hiss, "beast", but the music was over powering and all I could do was return the dirty glare. The music changed. The Queens had been positioned, all except Alvaria had one. They sat at the right hand of their kings respectively.
The kings rose to speak.
"Welcome to the North my great people of the four kingdom. We have come tonight to pay homage to our nations living in peace. We come tonight to dance, drink, and be Merry. And so it shall be," King Shalm smiled pleasantly and raised his cup.
"Welcome," King Huburus followed dryly and raised his cup along side of the king of the North.
"Ha! You all have come to watch me gourge myself I hope!" King Mulur proudly boasted drunkenly as he raised his cup which spilled over.
"As... My fellow kings have spoken, Welcome to the ball of four kingdoms. May we live many more years in peace." King Alvaria said, she has a voice of silk. She raised her cup.
Once all the kings had proceeded with the toast, the ball had begun. Princes and princesses took to the floor spinning to music I hadn't heard in so long. It was sweet and merry.
The princess was like a child too giddy to wait for me she took to the floor dancing by herself. She got odd looks but I could only stand in amazement. She was a single candle in the darkness.
Her father smiled at her as she danced. He loved Aura and her ways. He would never turn against her. He looked to me where I was and held a firm look but then his face soften... Forgiveness?
He smiled at me and I took my que. I waved passed dancers and made my way to the princess, I took her hand and dancers had stopped to stare.
A princess was dancing with a dragon.
