"Mina, my dear..." Mother placed a kiss upon my forehead, "you must never let anyone know that I am your Mother. To you I must be a servant in public."

Her eyes were somber and red from nighta of crying. I placed my hand on my mothers cheek. She had hair the color of leaves and her eyes were silver like mine. I smiled.

"Yes Mother...oh...I mean yes Syfira." My mother had such a beautiful name. I loved it. She walked behind me as we traveled the halls of the dragon palace. My father was waiting in his room.

She greeted the guards by bowing and I followed her lead. I was supposed to be a princess but I didn't like it very much. I didn't understand why all of the dragon  people here didn't like my mother. I frowned at the guard who eyed her. He immediately stopped and straightened his face.

"The king awaits the princess's arrival. Please if you will." She said sternly but never looked them in the eyes.

We entered the room once they opened the large oak doors.

My father laid I'm his bedding covered with sheets, his wife laid beside him. She hated me. I looked away. My mothers face never changed.

"My lord and Lady. The princess has come to see you. As scheduled." she almost hissed the word schedule my father had agreed to see me once a month.

"That thing is no princess. More like an abomination. Just because my husband agreed to look at the thing does not make her royalty."

I could feel my mother shake as she took my hand and bowed.

"Yes my lady. We shall be going now." my mother aost dragged me from the room. Once safely back on the other side of the castle where I liked it she took me to my room and sat me down.

"My little fire, listen to me. I love you with all of my heart and soul. Never listen to what the Queen may say. Your father....he....he was once a gentle man. He has just lost that being with her. He loves you in own special way."

I nodded but honestly it hurt. My mother held back tears as she pulled me in close and hugged me tightly.

"You are special. You will be a great dragon."  She kissed my forehead and left the room.

It was not much later in the week that my mother never came back to me. I had heard from the guards that she was to be beheaded.

I ran as fast as I could down the halls of the castle. I pushed away guards and spectators as I emerged fro mtge crowd there she was in the main hall, bound and beaten.

My father sat upon his throne cold and emotionless.

"Father!!" I cried pushing forward towards my mother. A knight grabbed me. I was too small to fight him off. I squirmed and kick towards my mother desperately. "No...."

My mother turned her face to me. Her beautiful face had been scared and bruised. Her hair had been cut, her lips swollen and formless. Worst of all her eyes, they had lost all sense of hope.

She smiled at me and mouthes the words, I love you.

My body went limp as I saw my mothers head roll to my feet.
