The council rose as I entered. The hall was filled with subjects and royals alike. It was the day a new king was taking throne. The now only king. I walked from the threshold.

Alvaria stood in wait for me at the stage upon the throne. I looked at all the people who had gathered. Many of different kingdoms and species. I spied Amina and my long lost uncle. He had grown old in his wait. There was king Shalm, unshackled and free at the end of hall, standing in front of the stage as well as Muler, the last remaining kings.

As I walked I felt my fire burn bright. A mix of fear, sadness, and pride washed over me. I knew what I needed to do. It had been set for me since birth. But I felt like i was missing something— someone.

The crowd was filled but I couldn't smell her. She was no where in the room.

As I reached the stage the crowd stopped it's stirring. It was silent. Alvaria rose and smiled.

"King Syferus. You have come far. From your father, and his father before him. You are royal blood. As we have come together in these last days, you have created a kingdom of freedom. Long may you live, our new one and only king."

She bowed as king shalm took from her shoulders the cape of the king. It was long and golden.

He stood in front of me his face cold and hardened. He was not yet at ease with me.

"I am in your debt. You have been more generous than any man I have ever known. You are truly greater than any of us could have imagined. Humans, my people. We have done much wrong under the wrong leadership. I share that blame. Please my lord. Let us unite."

To my surprise he extended his hand. His face melted as tears ran down his face. He was truly sorrowful.

I took his hand.

Muler bowed as well. Shalm followed.

I turned to the people. The energy in the room was a calm before an explosion. The tension was about to burst.

"I... Syferus... I, A Dracon, a Dragon, I am now your king. Something no one would have ever imagined. Not in a million years would I have imagined."

I had soften my heart and my voice, but it still held the passion I needed, the message I needed.

"You are the people I had dreamed about, the sight I longed to see in darker days. Dragons, fairies, elves, humans, and so many more. You are all important and now we unite. We become one. You are free. I, as your king, will uphold this kingdom and my people."

I raised my fist. The crowd started to rustle. I had seen my father do it plenty of times. It was time.

"Now my people. We are one."

I released my fist into a gentle open palm.

There it was. The explosion.
