Every day that went by she grew more and more beautiful, as did Aura.
I had managed to restore peace and function to the Kingdom as well. I had given the tribes who had been enslaved their land back and freed them.
The remaining dragons who did not want to live with us returned to the mountains, Muller went back to be among his people. It was a merry farewell as we drank and sang all night. Alvaria denounced herself as ruler and made Alvaro leader of the Fairies. He went to care for and rule them. She stayed by my side as my right hand.
Now I sat watching Sorrael play with her friends in the garden from the castle. She was growing so fast for a few years to have passed.
Aura wrapped her arms around me from behind and kissed my neck.
"Aren't you happy my King? All is well. Thanks to you." She giggled. I smiled. I had done what I needed to do but something felt wrong...like I had missed a piece of the puzzle. But all was well and it would stay that way as long as I was king.
There was a scream from a child. My neck snapped back to the window. One of the fairy children had fallen.
I shuffled down the stairs revealing myself and Aura behind me. Sorrael was over the child holding the scarred knee.
I gently pulled her away to inspect it. There was a deep scrape that removed some of the flesh.
I told Aura to go get a midwife and she hurried away. The child began to cry.
"It's going to be fine child. I've called for a midwife mage. They will be here soon."
Sorrael leaned over him again and smiled.
"It's going to be okay. Papa said so. Does it hurt?"
The child nodded and wiped away we.of the tears.
Sorrael had grown to be loving and kind to everything around her. She was graceful but strong. She had gained everything a good princess should have. She was wonderful.
"Do you want it to go away?" She asked innocently. Once again the child nodded and sniffled.
"Then close your eyes and count to ten!" She said giggling. The child placed his hands over his eyes and started to cout. The midwife would take longer than that.
Sorrael placed her hand on the boys knees, I tried pulling her hand away but she was firm.
"Papa, no, look!" she said as a light shot from her hand and I wat he'd as the boys knee started to heal on its own.
My face drained of blood. I looked at her and my eyes shot open as I realized.
My mother had told me that my gift was to bring the dead back to life...my power was different. My gift was Sorrael...I had given life to....
Life.
