Autumn

We were walking hand in hand. We've been doing that a lot lately. We were always touching somehow, always close, after all, we'd spent lifetimes upon lifetimes unjustifiably apart. So I bumped my bum against his, and he held onto me, almost losing his balance but not quite, as my laughter filled the seemingly calm air around us and his immediately followed.

" I missed that, you know." I whispered, turning my head in search of his eyes. They were right there, waiting for my own to meet them, and everything faded away into just that. We stopped laughing, but his hands remained around my waist, and mine rested on top of his. Always protecting me from some fall. Always keeping me balanced.

" I missed you." He twirled me around, bringing me closer, and I barely had time to laugh before his lips fell against my own, dissolving my laughter into his breathing, and my breath into his chuckle, and me as a whole into him.

We heard someone clearing their throat, and although the kiss had long ended, we just stood there, his forehead against mine, our arms a tangled mess, you could barely tell us apart.

" Seriously?" We laughed again, angling both our heads to meet our intruder, who as expected, turned out to be Louis.

" Thank fuck, now, we sort of need you, since we're having a meeting and all." He pointed at Harry, then at the small hall that was now dedicated to their frequent meetings.

" Alright, sure, lets go, Autumn." He detached himself from me, but he still held my hand, guiding me to join them, like it was the most natural thing in the world. My head fell as I eased into my pace, a smile on my lips because, God did I love him.

My nose brushed against the growing muscles in his arm, and I almost inhaled simply to take in his scent. Almost planted a kiss there. Almost did something, anything, to somehow bring him closer, keep him for longer. But the door was soon opened, and he put slight distance between us, as he threw himself into the ongoing discussion.

" What's going on?" I questioned, my eyes moving between the seemingly heated Niall and Zayn. They all fell silent, eyes moving between Harry and I.

" They're running out of supplies here. And back home, a group of rebels took over the inventory center, and are refusing to let any shipments get to us. They say there's only about 10 of them, but they're spreading chaos through the camp." Liam spoke, distress saturating his tone. Harry visibly tensed beside me, but I couldn't afford to look at him as realization dawned upon us both.

" No. There's no way in hell what you want is happening. Not again." Harry profusely shook his head, eyes firm, challenging, daring any of us to argue against him.

" I volunteered to go, but I can't do this alone. I've never been involved enough and they probably won't take orders from me, especially after- I-" His face fell, features deforming with the ugliness of the truth that he still had trouble speaking, or even thinking. Everything about him dimmed.

" It's okay, Liam." The words went past my mouth, Liam's head shaking helplessly, before he lifted his guilty eyes to meet mine. I willed my lips to form into a smile, a comforting one, I hoped, one that he soon mirrored, before I turned my attention to the rest of the gathered crowd.
