➳ silence

In silent nights we beg for the silence of our minds
And the diminishing of the cries
And the extinguishing of the flame of the heart
We beg for forgetfulness, for the darkness of the night brings images so clear about our shining eyes
We beg for the days gone by and the future to come
We beg for lost loves and replaced friendships and dead family
We beg for peace of mind
For this silence makes every thought
Can I be enough?
Why did they leave?
Was it my fault?
I miss them
Will I live long enough?
I loved them
EVERY THOUGHT, so damn loud
We beg for life to take us
To those we lost
We scream for the light we know is there, just not for us
We scream so loud every piece of us shatters but the world around us seems to stay intact
We weep and hyperventilate and suddenly find ourselves in a street so dark and silent it's almost scary
But we decide it isn't, for at this point, the only thing we're scared of is
Ourselves
We wander in these streets roaming with broken souls we know we can fix, but just won't
After all, how can we fix those around us when we can't fix ourselves?
With that realization we blink and find ourselves in our sheets again
Amidst the pounding silence in our heads, we realize our dreams maybe just dreams but this pain in our world,
This pain that we feel,
Cannot be fixed by anyone but ourselves.
And we will fix us.

That night, we watch the sun rise.
