The field was uneven and I was horrified of tripping and getting caught. Sam was running after me, he was fast but I was faster and had an easier time maneuvering through without stumbling.
I adjusted my bag and felt something light hit the back of my calf. Frankly I was too nervous to look at what it was just in case it slowed me down. I managed to steal a glance at my pursuer who was calling my name and realized he was catching up slowly.
Just make it to the town and you can loose him.
Dean had hopped back into the Impala and drove away, which I assume he was driving to the town to catch me.
If that was the case I was screwed.
I kept running as fast as I possibly could until I got to the sidewalk and turned left. No sign of the impala and Sam couldn't see me.
I either a) keep running and Sam sees me and I can't get out of his sight but I have more options of hiding or I b) turn into this alleyway and pray it's not a dead end.
I chose b).
I managed to have some luck as there was a large dumpster against the wall. Tearing it open, I threw my stuff inside and followed behind it as fast as I could before shutting it. I sat there for two and a half hours, just to be safe. I felt like screaming and crying and having a temper tantrum but I kept myself together. My face lacked any emotion and I was too exhausted from the past months to even think of a plan.
So I waited another hour.
It went by relatively slowly and painfully considering the smell (thank god it was empty) so I peaked my head out to see if anyone was near me. Nothing. Grabbing my bag, I opened the lid the whole way and quietly hopped out. I crept out onto the streets and looked around. It was later. The sun was gone and there were only a few people scattered around.
Isn't it my lucky day, there was a small hotel right next to me.
The place was small and had a motel like feeling without being an actual hotel. Now I had a smaller risk of being caught. Sam and Dean would go to the motel on the other side of town (I asked if there were any motels in town and thankfully there was only one). My head pounded as I lied on my bed and took deep breaths. I was almost asleep, until my phone rang.
The piercing sound rang throughout the silent room and I shut my eyes and tried to ignore it. The ringing stopped and started again. By the fourth time I angrily stabbed the accept button with my finger and held it up to my ear.
"Hello." I answered in an aggravated tone.
"L-Leigh?"
My eyes widened and my pace quickened.
"Sam?"
"Where are you? What happened? Are you okay?" He spilled.
"What the hell are you doing?" Dean asked.
I couldn't answer. I could barely think.
"How'd you get this number?" I finally stated numbly.
"Your notebook fell out of your bag."
I mentally just slit my own throat for being such an idiot.
"I'm sorry."
"For what? Leigh come back." Sam encouraged. There was a small ticking noise. And I realized what they were doing.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled again before hanging up and throwing my phone against the wall as hard as I could.
