My eyes widened.

Did he really just say that.

Am I dreaming.

Oh god I have officially lost my mind.

"What?" I asked out loud.

He let out a short sigh and laughed to him self before running his hand through his hair. Our foot steps were quiet against the pavement. Is he being serious?

"I believe you." Was all he said before looking forward and staring down the road. I didn't say anything because I truthfully didn't know what to say without sounding...something. There was a silence between us that I couldn't put into words and I felt extremely self conscious of every little thing.

Was my hair an absolute disaster? Did my outfit look trashy? Did I have chocolate on my face from my drink? Smeared makeup? Maybe I just looked stupid holding a gigantic envelope filled with papers that were ridiculous to have.

"I don't mean to sound weird," he continued as he tried to make a conversation happen between us and he thankfully continued this one so I didn't sound line such an idiot, "but what makes you say that?"

I smiled to myself slightly so he wouldn't see that I enjoyed the fact that he cared. Unfortunately I had to really think about this. There weren't very many reasons but I had enough suspicion that I jumped into action about getting any information on demons.

"Well beside the smell of sulfur all the time, there's no salt in the house whatsoever." He shot me a weird look and opened his mouth to speak but I already knew what he was going to ask so I answered it for him, "it's harmful to demons." he nodded and continued listening.

"She's been acting...different." I said slowly and quietly. It felt almost weird to say.

"What'do ya mean?" He asked looking at me but I avoided his gaze and stared at the sidewalk.

Could this walk be any longer?

"She's just...i don't know." I couldn't even explain it, "its just everything about her has changed. Physically and verbally. the way she talks, her pronunciations sound like she's from Pennsylvania, and she walks differently. She even just says yes to everything."

At first Lucas was quiet and he just continued walking. Then he nodded and looked almost as if he was contemplating what I was saying.

"Maybe it's just...i don't know. Maybe she's just being nicer after what happened." Lucas said with a shrug.

So he didn't really believe me.

"Probably." was all I mumbled out as we got closer to my house.

My driveway now was only a good 20 feet away and I decided it would probably be a good idea to say goodbye now.

Just to get it over with.

I opened my mouth to speak but of course he beat me to it.

"Look I-I'm sorry if I said anything to, ya know, offend you about anything." he said looking at me.

Instead of avoiding his gaze and starring at the pavement road, I looked up at him.

"No it's okay, it's fine." I answered, "really it's fine."

My house stood large and tall right in front of us but we both stopped at the edge of the driveway so that neither of us crossed the line onto my lawn.

"Look, Leigh. I-I...what I'm trying to say is- well I've-we've known each other a really long time and-and I have really wanted to tell you this for a very long time but I've been to scared and-"

He didn't get the chance to finish his speech because I had already slammed my lips against his. I placed my arms around his neck and had to stand up straighter and go onto my toes so I could reach him better.

At first he was shocked and stood still before he placed his hands on my cheeks and leaned down.

I can't remember how long we were like that but it didn't matter because it had finally happened.

It wasn't my first kiss but it was truthfully just as special. Because of...well everything about it. Just the fact that it was us. That it was romantic in its own type of way.

And it couldn't have been any more perfect.

We continued for seconds, minutes, hours, years, decades, centuries? I hadn't been counting.

Then we broke apart.

My arms fell back to their natural place down at my sides and his did as well. We smiled at each other. Smiles that were truly happy.

"Wow." He said biting his lip and I ran my fingers through my hair. He opened his mouth to speak but this time I beat him to it.

"I'll call you." I said before walking to my front door and with out turning around going inside.

And I smiled the entire time.

Papers were scattered on the floor right by my bed. Just in case my parents came in so they couldn't see anything.

Newspapers.

Photos.

ID's.

CD's.

Receipts.

I had emptied all the contents of the folder out and had started going through it all. The amount of stuff in there was ridiculous.

I stopped and froze.

There was a thumping from down stairs.

It was someone walking. Mom.

I bit my lip as I listened to the footsteps go up the stairs and I started to push the papers even more out of view.

My mom was now on my landing and I listened as she walked towards my door. I waited for her to come in but she didn't. Instead she waited outside my door.

Why hasn't she left? She continued to stand there and I waited for her to leave. What is she waiting for.

Tiptoeing over towards my laptop I started pressing on the buttons while I stared at the shadow underneath the door which meant she was still there. I tapped on the buttons some more when I watched as she finally left and walked away.

What was she even doing?

She's a demon.

It's not really her.

It's someone-something inside her.

The sooner I can figure out how to get rid of this thing the sooner I can go back to having a normal life again.
