"Okay, so, you will be staying here for the rest of the week." Ryan explained as she and Lilianna walked through the packhouse.
Lilianna frowned, "Will I have to see his face?"
Ryan bit her lip, "You'll probably see him a few times, considering he is the alpha and does walk around throughout the day."
"Great." she replied sarcastically.
"You know, I thought you would be flinching and quiet after everything you've been through."
Lilianna grinned, "My father told me to always look at the good side of things. Like when I was the hunters' experiment, I always told myself that I would eventually escape them. And now, I can look forward to moving into a new pack."
Ryan smiled, "My mom is excited to meet you, since you don't have a family there, my family is going to take you in."
"Really?"
"Yupp, my mother always wanted another daughter. Instead, she ended up with a son." Ryan chuckled.
"So, tell me about your family. I don't want to look lost when we go there." Lilianna beamed.
"Well, my father is the Alpha and his name is Steven, then you have my mother who's the Luna. Her name is Chloe and then my younger brother, Tyler."
"So...will you become the future alpha?"
"No, I want to become a pack doctor instead. Besides, my brother is more alpha than me."
"How?"
"He's just a natural leader, he loves meeting new people and making plans for the pack. Of course he asks me for help sometimes, considering I am his older sister and another alpha. But after shadowing my parents...I don't enjoy it. I shadowed my friend's mother, who is our pack doctor, and I loved every second of it. Luckily, my parents want me to be happy. Whether that's leaving the pack and traveling or becoming a doctor."
Lilianna nodded, "Tell me about Seth's parents. Were they nice?"
Ryan smiled, "They were amazing, they cared a lot for this pack. His father would always take Seth fishing and camping. His mom went one time and came back ranting about bugs and how they're demons. Before Seth was born, his mother was pregnant with another baby. They would of had two sons, but she had a miscarriage. She was told she wouldn't be able to have another baby, his mom thought his father was going to leave her. But he told her he didn't care if they could have a pup or not, she was his mate and he loved her. When they had Seth....the whole pack celebrated. He was extremely close to his parents, they made sure he was always happy."
"He loved them." Lilianna whispered.
"Yeah, he did. He was only twelve when they died, he became an alpha at the age of thirteen. Many packs attacked, figuring they could take advantage of a thirteen year old alpha. Long story short, he was under a lot of stress. He still is, but that's just how he is." she sighed.
They were silent for a little while until Lilianna voiced another question, "Is he still depressed?"
Seth pulled himself off of his bedroom floor, groaning as he stretched his sore muscles. He quickly went through his regular morning routine before walking out into the hall, not looking forward to training the warriors. For the past three days they have been nothing but disrespectful towards him. He was incredibly close to losing his temper on them, but he was worried that would only make them resent him more. He has seen what happens when a pack goes against their alpha, he didn't want the council to take over his pack and punish any of them. He hasn't been the greatest alpha lately and knew they deserved better.
He looked up when he heard voices, he stiffened as Ryan and Lilianna rounded the corner. Both girls spotted him quickly, before either one of them could say anything, he hurried past them. Once they were out of sight, he released a breath and continued walking outside.
"So, what are we doing today?" Darien asked quietly as Seth stood beside him.
The alpha sighed and sat on the porch steps, trying to get the dizziness to go away. "For warm-up, they have to do fifty push-ups and run a mile. Then for the actual training, I want them to work on their fighting forms. It's going to be an easy day today."
Darien nodded and told the warriors what they were going to do, as they started their warm-up, Seth closed his eyes. His ears started ringing and he felt extremely light-headed. He snapped his eyes open when Darien suddenly grabbed him and shook him.
"You okay?" he asked.
Seth swallowed, "Yeah, sorry."
"Maybe you should go rest...."
"No, I'm fine. I was just thinking."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Darien didn't say anything else as they continued training the warriors. By the time they were done, Seth was barely able to stand, but he managed to hide it from his pack members. He told them all a good job, ignoring their insults as he walked inside.
"I think his mother should of had a miscarriage when she was pregnant with him instead of his older brother." someone growled.
Seth clenched his jaw and disappeared into his office, he quickly locked the door and sat down in his chair. He rested his head on his desk and sighed, he should have known his pack would react like this. His father made it clear to them that torture was wrong, even though the guards didn't get that memo.
"I'm sorry, dad." he whispered.
