Lilianna and Seth sprinted into the hospital to see Avery sobbing outside of the room, her whole body was shaking as nurses and doctors ran in and out of the room. Lilianna knelt beside her and started rubbing her back, trying her hardest to calm her down. She looked up to see Seth demanding answers, wanting to know why Darien was coding so much. She wrapped an arm around Avery before ushering her towards the waiting room. Both of them sat down, waiting for Seth to finish yelling or for the doctor to give them some answers.

"Alpha, I would appreciate it if you would step back for a second. I will tell you once we have his heart beating again." the doctor snapped.

Seth glared at her before storming into the waiting room and sitting beside his mate. Lilianna sighed as she got up to massage his shoulders.

"Let them do their jobs." she whispered.

He sighed, "I just want some answers."

"I know, but yelling and being an ass won't give them to you."

For a few more minutes they waited until the doctor could talk to them, when she walked over, she flashed Seth an annoyed look.

"He had Ventricular fibrillation, which is an uncontrolled twitching/quivering of muscle fibers. Ventricular fibrillation is when this occurs in the lower chambers of the heart, there are multiple causes and usually, people don't survive from it. However, since this happened while he's already there and we were able to get there in time, he survived. What I believe is causing this is a blunt cardiac injury. He's going to go in for some tests so I can find out what grade injury it is, but it's most likely a Grade III injury." she explained.

Avery frowned, "There is long-term damage after having Ventricular fibrillation, right?"

"Yes, but for werewolves, it is a little different. Usually, our wolves are able to heal any damage to the heart. However, since Darien's wolf is unable to heal him, there is damage to his heart."

"W-will he get through this?"

The doctor sighed, "I wish I could say he will, but it's more complicated than that. As of right now, I am honestly not sure. Fibrillation can cause the victim to be in a coma, which would explain why he's currently in a coma as we speak."

"There's no telling when he'll wake up, is what you're saying." Lilianna voiced.

The doctor nodded, "We will try the best we can to save him though."

"Thank you."

Once the doctor left, Lilianna released a breath, "Ave, you should probably go home and rest."

Avery nodded, "Well, I won't be able to see him for a while anyway."

As they left, Lilianna glanced back to them wheeling Darien out of the room, her heart broke at the sight. She released a shaky breath and walked out the doors.

"You need to pull through, bud. For Avery." she thought to herself.

A/N: To have Darien pass away or not...I'm terrible when it comes to certain character deaths.
