I woke with a start. It was still dark outside, what time is it? I reached out for my glasses, I slipped them on and picked up my phone and it read 3:23am. I groaned and buried my head into the pillow. I tried to fall asleep but I couldn't. Every time I checked what time it was, it was only 2 minutes after I last checked. I sat up and put my headphones in. I let the sound of Dan's voice fill my ears. I put my head back town on the pillow and looked up at the ceiling. I know, it's weird that I'm listening to Dan sing through my headphones when he's in the room next to me.
***************************
I opened my eyes and it was light outside. I paused my music, realising that I had fallen asleep with it on. The time on my phone read 8:56am. Okay, that's early enough to wake up. I pulled the duvet off. I was going to change into my clothes but I was comfy in my pyjamas. The pants were long with a blue and purple tartan pattern on it. I was just wearing a plain black T-shirt. In the top left it had a logo for Center Parcs on it. It was just an old T-shirt but it was comfy. I opened my bedroom door and walked out. I shivered because it was freezing so I darted back into my room and put a baggy jumper on. I walked back out and looked around. The flat was silent so either Dan was still asleep or he'd gone out, he would have told me if he'd gone right? I walked over to his bedroom and his door was wide open. I peered in to see him asleep on a large double bed. There was a big wooden wardrobe in the corner of the room. There was also a small desk with some papers on it. I looked back at Dan to make sure I hadn't woken him. He was still asleep, his hair fell over his face. He looked so peaceful, I slowly backed out of his room. I winced when the floor creaked. I hope he didn't notice.
"Lily?" Dan yawned. Oops, I'd woken him.
"Uh, yeah?" I said awkwardly.
"What are you doing?" He asked sitting up in his bed. My heartbeat increased as he was only in a pair of shorts.
"I, uh, I woke up and I came to see if you were awake, sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" I said nervously.
"Oh, sure, no problem, what time is it?" He asked with a large smile on his face.
"Uh, about 9 ish" I said.
"Oh, right, the guys are coming over at 11 to practice more. Come here" he patted the bed next to him.
I slowly walked over to the bed and sat awkwardly on the side.
"Are you sure you're okay performing with us?" Dan asked.
I turned around and sat cross legged next to him. "Yeah, I mean I'm nervous but when I'm up there I'm sure I'll love it" I laughed.
"Okay, well, if you change your mind, it's okay. I didn't mean to sound so pushy before, I'm sorry" he smiled.
"Oh, you didn't sound pushy" I laughed and lied. He did sound pushy but I wouldn't tell him that.
"Well, I'm sorry anyway" he smiled.
We spoke about what Dan was like when he was younger. He was a lot like me, shy.
"So, what was your life like in Manchester?" Dan asked me pulling on a T-shirt.
"Well, it was perfect. I lived in a little cottage and we had a small garden and a vegetable patch. The outside looked really sweet. On the inside I remember we had this large wood burning fireplace. I loved to sit there with our chocolate Labrador, called Millie. She died just before my parents did. I had an older sister, Caitlin, but she ran away with 'the love of her life', Jason, when she was 16. I haven't seen her since. Not even when my parents died. She didn't come home." I paused to wipe a fallen tear from my cheek. Dan looked at me with sympathy in his eyes. "I had loads of friends and I loved school. My best friend was called Lauren and when I moved to London I tried to keep in contact with her, but she never returned my texts or phone calls. The only friend that tried to stay in contact with me was Jack, but eventually we lost contact."
"Oh, wow, I never knew you'd been through so much" Dan picked up my hand and held it in his.
"I had everything and then I lost it all" I said staring at our hands. "But now, I have you" I looked up at Dan and smiled.
"I'm glad that I met you Lil" Dan said sweetly.
"I'm glad I met you too" I smiled. Another tear fell down my cheek but not one of sadness. I'm crying because I'm happy.
*****************************
We got out of bed and walked into the kitchen. Dan made some toast and we sat watching the news whilst we ate it. There was nothing major going on. Suddenly the news reporter with long dark hair, started to talk about a girl with short blonde hair. They showed a picture of me. I gasped and looked at Dan, he was just watching the screen.
"This girl, Lily Coleman, has been reported missing, if you find her please contact the police, as she is a criminal and needs to be held in prison." The woman said.
I gasped and looked at Dan. He turned to me with a concerned look on his face.
"What is it Lil?" Dan said.
"Th-th-" I couldn't speak so I just pointed at the TV where there was a large image of me on the screen.
"What? It's just about the price of petrol, you shouldn't worry, you don't drive" Dan laughed.
I blinked and shook my head. I looked back at the screen and the image of me had gone and there was a different woman with blonde hair tied up in a bun, she was sat in the exact same place as the over woman. I frowned. I'm just being paranoid. There's no need to be paranoid. They weren't looking for me, they can't drag me back, Dan is my legal guardian now.
"Nothing, I'm just being paranoid." I said shakily.
"What?" Dan asked his eyes confused.
"I thought they were talking about me and that I'm a criminal on the loose or something" I shook my head.
"Oh... There's no need to be paranoid" Dan smiled.
"I know, I just keep thinking that they're going to drag me back to the hell hole" I shivered.
"You don't need to, I'm your legal guardian now so they can't take you back unless I give you back" Dan said. I looked at him shocked. He wasn't going to give me back was he? "I'm not going to give you back, Lil" Dan laughed and I relaxed.
"You're right, I don't need to be paranoid" I laughed.
The time on the TV said 10:04 so Dan got up and went for a shower. I just watched the news until he came out, fully dressed. I jumped up and walked into the bathroom, I heard Dan laugh at my bouncy mood. I shut the door laughing. I quickly showered and changed. I stared at my reflection in the steamy mirror. I looked like a different person. I looked happy. I brushed my wet hair and paused. I'd not got any clothes. Oops. I had put my pyjamas on the floor and they had gotten soaking wet. I tightened the towel around myself and quickly opened the door. I ran into my room and shut the door. I heard Dan laugh and I blushed. I changed into a pair of black jeans and my Bad Blood T-shirt. I hope Dan and the guys don't mind, I feel like wearing it today. I slipped on some black socks and put my black and white beanie on. I was wearing all black, apart from my hat, which was mainly black. Oops.. I applied a little bit of eyeliner and walked out of my room and joined Dan on the sofa. He was eating a packet of cheesy Doritos. He tilted the bag in my direction, offering me some, I put my hand in and pulled out three triangle shaped crisps. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out, seeing that I had a message from Josie.
Josie : hey girl! How are you! I assume you're having fun! You're so lucky! I still can't believe that DAN SMITH fostered you! I hope you don't mind but I used your fake phone to hand in to miss Duncan so I could text you, it's boring without you :( xxx
I smiled and Dan looked over. I tilted my phone over to him so he could read it and he chuckled. I turned the phone back to me and began typing.
Lily : I'm having soo much fun! Haha Dan is great! Sure I don't mind, at least I get to talk to you :):) I miss you Jo xxxx
When I pressed send Dan took my phone out of my hands. I frowned at him but he just laughed as he began to type.
Lily : Dan says hi! :D
He handed the phone back to me and I laughed. My phone buzzed again. I opened the message from Josie.
Josie : OMG HI!!! :D
Me and Dan both started laughing at my overreacting friend. Well, I wouldn't say she was overreacting, I would probably act the same if Dan had sent that to me. The doorbell rang and Dan jumped up to get the door. For a moment I panicked because I thought it would be the police or miss Duncan. But I relaxed when Will, Kyle and Woody walked in. I sent a quick text back to Josie.
Lily : gotta go, Kyle, Woody and Will are here XD xxx
I got a reply instantly.
Josie : ahh you're rubbing it innn!! ;) xxx
I laughed and stood up to greet the guys.
"There she is!" Kyle laughed hugging me.
"Hi" I said greeting the others.
"Lets get to work!" Will laughed.
We followed him into the practice room. My smile was from ear to ear as Dan started singing the famous 'eh-eh-oh-eh-oh'. Kyle showed me how to play it on the keyboard and I picked it up quickly. Dan started walking around the room and he tripped over a wire and fell flat on his face. Everyone looked at him with shocked expressions and then everyone but Dan, burst out laughing.
"Ow, it's not funny guys" Dan moaned as he stood up.
"Yeah it is" Woody laughed.
Dan looked at me with a 'its not funny' look and I bit my lip to stop myself from laughing but as I replayed his fall in my head I burst out laughing. He walked up to me and punched my arm gently.
"Lily!" Dan wined.
"Sorry, I-I can't help it" I said laughing.
I don't remember a time when I'd laughed so much. My cheeks started to ache as I continued to laugh at Dan's expression. My laughter died down and I walked up to Dan and hugged him.
"Aw, I'm sorry Dan, are you okay?" I asked pulling away.
"I'm fine, thanks for asking... Finally" he laughed and we all joined in.
We sang a few more songs and then Woody had to leave because he said he needed to buy some more clothes for the tour. We laughed and said goodbye.
"Oh my god! What am I going to wear?" I said, kind of mocking Woody but there was some truth in my words, I only had a few outfits and they weren't good clothes to perform in.
The guys laughed. "Come on! Lets go! I'll take you shopping!" Dan laughed.
"We'll take you shopping" Kyle corrected and we laughed.
"Okay, we'll take you shopping, now go grab a jacket or something" Dan said pushing me out of the room.
"Okay, okay, chill" I laughed walking out.
I walked into my room and picked up my black hoodie. I decided to change my T-shirt because it was black too. I slipped on my white T-shirt with a black zigzag pattern going across the middle. I pulled on my hoodie, zipping it up half way. I put my hat back in and adjusted my glasses. I walked towards the practice room and I heard Dan, Will and Kyle talking.
"She's really good!" Kyle said. "But will she be able to handle the pressure? I mean, you remember our first gig"
"Yeah, that was horrible" Dan said. I wonder what happened... "But I think she'll be fine. She's a tough girl, I mean if she can go through all that and be the way she is, I think she can handle a few shows" Dan laughed.
I smiled and walked in, acting like I'd not heard anything.
"Ready?" Dan said, he had his grey hoodie on and was just fastening his shoes.
"Yeah, almost, have you seen my shoes?" I asked looking round.
"Blue converse?" I nodded. "In the kitchen"
"Thanks" I smiled walking out.
I found my shoes and slipped them on. I walked over to them and they walked out, heading towards the door. I followed as Kyle and Will got into the lift. Dan locked the door and as he turned to get into the lift, the doors closed. As the lift went down we burst out laughing as we could hear Dan shouting down at us to wait for him. We got out of the lift at the bottom and waited. Kyle leaned against the wall and I sat down. Will joined me, crossing his ankles. When the lift opened and Dan stepped out we all laughed and got up. Me and Dan walked in front of Kyle and Will. We reached Dan's car and all piled in. I sat in the back with Kyle whilst Dan and Will sat in the front. Dan started the engine and drove towards to city centre.
*****************************
We were walking around the city centre looking at the shops. We managed to buy me another pair of black jeans and Dan picked out a wolf T-shirt for me. I tried it on and I looked like Dan.
"There's no way I'm wearing this" I laughed stepping out of the changing rooms showing the guys my T-shirt.
"Why not? I love it" Dan smiled.
"Because I look exactly like you." I said looking down at the T-shirt and back at Dan.
"Okay, fine" he huffed.
I laughed walking back into the changing room and trying in some more T-shirts. There was a white one with a wolf in it so Dan settled for that. Heading back to the car I looked at all the clothes we'd bought. I had gotten two new pairs of jeans and three white t-shirts, one had a wolf on it, another had a silhouette of a dragon and the other had a large image of the piano keys on it. Dan also bought me a red checked shirt. Dan had bought another grey hoodie and a scarf. Will and Kyle didn't buy anything. We had almost reached the car park when I heard a very familiar scream. I spun around and saw a small girl with long blonde hair. She stood still with a large smile on her face. Her eyes flickered to Dan, Kyle and Will, then back at me.
"LILY?!" She screamed running up to me.
"SAM?!" I shouted hugging her tightly. "I thought you hated me" I whispered into her ear.
"What? I could never hate you! It wasn't your fault that... Never mind... I'm just so glad to see you! H-how did you get out of the care home?" She asked her eyes flickered to the guys and then back at me.
"I might have smashed a window..." I admitted.
"That doesn't sound like you" she sighed.
"I've changed a lot in these last three months." I sighed. "I got depressed and then developed some anger issues" I whispered, I didn't want Dan to think that I had anger issues, I used to, but I don't any more. The moment I met Dan they disappeared.
She laughed and her eyes flickered to the three of the four members of Bastille again. I giggled and turned around.
"Sam, this is Dan, Kyle and Will" I laughed. "Dan, Kyle, Will, this is Sam, my best friend" I smiled.
"Nice to meet you" Dan smiled shaking Sam's hand. She blushed.
"Hi" Kyle laughed shaking her hand next.
"Hey" Will smiled shaking her hand.
"Oh my god, Lil, h-how?" She whispered turning to me.
"Well, when I escaped from the he-the care home, I ran into Dan and well, then he took me in" I smiled at Dan who smiled back.
"Oh my god! You're so lucky!" She gasped. "It's such a pleasure to meet you" she turned to the guys and smiled.
"Hey, Sam?" I asked, a small idea popped into my mind. She turned to me and smiled. "Are you going to see them in a few days? They're playing in London" I smiled.
"I wish I was! But the tickets sold out already" she pouted.
"Wow, we only decided yesterday" Kyle muttered and I laughed.
"Would you like to?" Dan asked picking up on my idea. I turned to smile at him and he smiled back.
"Yeah I would but as I said the-" I cut her off.
"We can get you a ticket, can't we?" I asked turning to Dan.
"Yeah, sure" he smiled.
"Oh my god, really?!" Sam squeaked and I smiled. "Oh my god thank you so much" she hugged me tightly.
"Wow, Sam, too tight" I gasped.
She let go of me. "Sorry" she giggled.
"Would you like to come back to mine and I can get you a ticket?" Dan asked.
"Would I?! Oh my gosh yes" she squealed.
I laughed and linked arms with her. We giggled as we walked back. I leaned over to Dan.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"No problem," he smiled putting his hand on my shoulder.
Okay I proof read it's me found so many mistakes, sorry, I changed them now so it probably makes more sense :):) thanks for your comments and votes :):)
