As we walked through the school, heads turned our way. I clung onto Dan's arm and he put his arm over my shoulders, pulling me closer to him in a protective way. I tried to avoid intimidating stares of the other students by looking at my feet or at my hands. I heard a few excited whispers as people recognised Dan. We were almost at the gates when someone shouted my name.

"Lily!"

I looked behind me to see Kate running towards me like a maniac.

"Lily! Are you okay?" She asked, slightly out of breath.

"I-I'm fine" I stuttered.

"What happened?" She asked worriedly.

"I don't know, I think I fainted" I muttered.

Dan was staring at Kate, but Kate took no notice.

"Before that" she said firmly. "I saw you run out of the canteen looking like you were about to cry" she said softly.

She hadn't taken notice of Dan yet, she was just staring at me.

"Lily? What happened?" Dan asked.

"Nothing" I said.

"Lily"

"Nothing happened Dan okay!" I snapped.

"Lily!" He raised his voice.

"Lily, are you okay?" Kate asked again.

"I'm fine" I plastered a smile onto my face. "I'll see you later" I smiled at Kate.

"Oh, here's my number" she said passing me a piece of paper with some numbers written on it.

"Thanks" I smiled. "Bye Kate"

I turned and walked off, leaving Dan standing in front of Kate. I heard the slap of Dan's converse as they hit the floor as he ran.

"Lily, what's got into you today?" Dan asked.

"Nothing I'm fine" I said.

Suddenly black dots filled my vision and I fell to the floor. Oh no.

"Lily wake up" someone muttered.

My eyes flickered open and I slowly sat up. I saw Dan knelt down next to me along with a crowd of people.

"Sorry Dan" I muttered. "Can we go please" I started panicking because there were so many people surrounding me.

"Yeah, come here" Dan smiled, helping me up.

He put his arm over my shoulder and supported me as we walked through the crowd.

"Oh my god! It's Dan from Bastille!" Someone squealed.

"Oh no" Dan muttered.

"Dan!" People were screaming his name and he quickened his pace.

"Sorry, I've got to go" Dan called out as we almost ran to the car.

Students were following us so we quickly got into the car. Dan politely waved at the students surrounding our car and quickly drove off.

"Sorry about that" Dan said breaking the silence.

"About what? It's not your fault that you're awesome" I giggled.

Dan chuckled but then his face went serious.

"Lily" Dan said and turned to me.

"Yeah?"

"What happened at lunch today?" He asked.
