I stood at the side of the stage watching as the guys performed with Sam.
"You're not going to make me go on again are you?" I laughed.
"Nah, only if you want to" he chuckled.
"Thanks" I smiled.
I turned back to the stage and sang quietly along.
"As some of you may or may not know, my mum and dad are from South Africa" Dan's voice boomed through the speakers and the crowd screamed. "So it's amazing to be here, um and uh, anyway this is a song I wrote a while ago and uh, it's kind of... oh... is this..." he paused and fiddled with his microphone. "This is for my mum and dad and all their friends, who are like my family, and some of them are here tonight and uh, I've never really played it before so it could go terribly wrong so forgive me" he turned to his piano.
I laughed at his last words. "I've never really played it before so it could go terribly wrong so forgive me" he roughly repeated what I had said to him before I played Flaws on the guitar for him.
When he started playing I instantly recognised the song. He was finally playing Durban Skies live. I started squealing and Sam turned to me.
"I'm guessing you recognise the song?" he laughed and I nodded enthusiastically.
As the song continued I felt my eyes begin to tear up. As I looked into the audience, the first tear of however many, fell down my cheek. I wiped it away, unsure as to why I was crying. I looked back at Dan and he looked up, connecting his eyes with mine. I smiled and another tear fell. He gave me an 'are you okay?' look and I smiled in reply. I was more than okay. I was proud. By the second chorus, tears were flooding out of my eyes and Sam turned to me.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice full of concern.
"Yeah" I sniffed, smiling a little. "I'm just really happy"
He smiled a heartwarming smile at me and I turned back to Dan. When the song ended, I wiped away the fallen tears and connected my eyes with Dan's. I smiled and looked at Sam, searching in his eyes to see if it was okay for me to run on. He nodded and I smiled. I rushed onto the stage and into Dan's open arms. I hugged him tightly and sobbed quietly.
"Hey, what's up?" He spoke into my ear.
"Nothing, I'm just really happy" I sniffled.
We pulled away and Dan wiped my tears away with his thumb. The crowd awwed and I blushed, looking down. I sat on the platform that Woody's drums were on and stayed there for the rest of the gig.
"Thank you so so much! We've been Bastille have an amazing week!" Dan yelled as we walked off the stage.
"Aahh Dan that was amazing" I squealed, jumping up and down as the others wandered off.
"Thank you" he chuckled, wrapping me into a hug.
We hung around backstage for a while before going out to meet the fans. I clung to Kyle's arm as we walked into the crowd of screaming fans. I looked at Dan and he gave me a 'stick with Kyle' look. I nodded and held Kyle's hand tightly.
"Hello" Kyle smiled at two teenage girls, probably about my age.
"Hi!" they squealed and I hid behind Kyle.
Kyle signed their tickets and took a selfie with each of them.
"You're Lily, right?" One of the girls asked and I nodded. "Woah you're so lucky"
"Thanks, I guess" I laughed awkwardly.
"Do you all live in London?" The other girl asked Kyle.
"Yeah, yeah we do" he smiled.
"Do you live with Dan?" she asked me.
"Yeah" I smiled.
"Ahhh lucky" she giggled and I laughed awkwardly. "What's it like to live with the lead singer of Bastille?"
"Amazing" I laughed.
"I bet" she smiled and I nodded.
"But to me, Dan is more than just the lead singer of Bastille, he's my dad" I looked down to hide my blushed cheeks. Why did I just say that? That's so embarrassing.
"Aww that's so sweet" she giggled.
We said goodbye to the girls and met more fans. After we finished, we climbed into the tour bus and set off for the next show.
********************************
I was sat in the 'living room' area watching TV with Kyle when Dan sleepily walked in, mumbling something whilst scratching his head. Kyle and I looked at each other and back at Dan. Dan walked into the kitchen area and pulled out a bag of ready salted crisps from one of the cupboards. I looked at the time in the corner of the TV, 11pm. He mumbled something inaudible whilst walking out and up the stairs.
"What was that about?" I laughed.
"Not a clue" Kyle chuckled.
I lay down on the sofa, putting my head on Kyle's lap as I watched the screen. He started stroking my hair and I felt my eyes begin to droop. I heard Kyle say something as I slipped into a well needed sleep.
I felt myself being shifted from my comfortable position on Kyle's lap and let out a tired moan.
"Shh shh it's okay, go back to sleep, I'm just putting you in your bed" I heard Kyle whisper.
"Mm 'kay" I mumbled, leaning into Kyle's warm chest. "You're warm"
"So are you" Kyle chuckled.
"No, I'm cold" I muttered sleepily.
"Do you want a blanket?" Kyle asked and I felt his arms slip out from underneath me as I landed on a soft, bouncy surface.
"Yes please" I smiled sleepily, my eyes still closed.
"Okay, I'll be right back" he whispered and I heard footsteps leading away from me.
I slipped in and out of a light sleep as I waited for Kyle to come back. A few minutes later he returned and I opened my eyes to see him draping the blanket over my cold figure.
"Thanks Kyle" I smiled tiredly.
"You're welcome, Lilypad, goodnight" Kyle smiled.
"Night" I smiled as he kissed my cheek.
I closed my eyes and listened to Kyle's footsteps as I started to drift into sleep again.
Helloo sorry it's quite short, I just really want to get to Lily being back at school because I've got an almost completed chapter written for that :)
