I woke to the sound of loud banging on the door. Dan wasn't on the sofa where he's fallen asleep. The door burst open causing me to jump. I gasped as miss Duncan walked in. She had a long pencil skirt on and her hair was scraped back into a tight bun. I jumped off the sofa and ran into the corner of the room. Stupid, I know. Police men surrounded me, I tried to run but they held my arms. One of them put my arms behind my back and handcuffed my wrists.
"DAN!!!" I cried. "DAN HELP ME!!" I screamed. I turned around to see that the man who had handcuffed my hands was Dan. "Dan?" Tears formed in my eyes. How could he? I thought he was just being kind to me, keeping me safe, and now he was handing me over to the police. My heart shattered into a million pieces. Another police man took hold of my arms and led me out of the flat roughly. Dan stood at the door, watching the police take me away. As he began to close the door I screamed one more time to try and change his mind.
"DAN!!"
**************************
I woke by someone shaking me. I my eyes shot open and I saw Dan leaning over me. I thought he handed me over to the police? Was that a dream? I think it was.
"Lily? Are you okay? You screamed my name, like, three times" Dan said holding me against his chest. I blushed, had I really screamed his name? Oops. His strong arms were around my shoulders, holding me in a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head into his chest. That dream felt too real.
"I'm fine, just a nightmare" I sighed into his shoulder. As much as I tried to control it, I couldn't quite hold the tears in they rolled down my cheeks. He pulled back and looked at me in the eyes.
"Aww, Lil, don't cry" he wiped a tear from my cheek. My cheeks burned and my heart rate sped up. Dan looked away awkwardly. "Are you hungry? Would you like some breakfast?" He asked standing up and walking to the kitchen. I grabbed my glasses and slid them on.
"Um, sure" I smiled standing up and joining him in the kitchen.
"Toast?" He asked pulling the bread out.
"Yeah please" I said playing with my short hair.
Dan filled the toaster with four pieces of bread. We stood there in silence whilst the toast was cooking. I started playing the song 'the silence' by Bastille, in my mind. But when I realised that I was humming the tune out loud. I stopped. Dan looked at me with an eyebrow raised. I blushed and hid my face with my hair. The toast popped out and Dan grabbed two plates. He put the toast on the plates and opened the cupboard.
"What would you like on your toast? I've got butter, strawberry jam, Nutella, marmite, uh..." He said.
"Um, jam please" I said, I always felt nervous when people made food specifically for me. In the hell hole, they cooked for all of us.
"Okay" Dan pulled the jam out of the cupboard and pulled a knife out of a drawer. He spread the red jam on all of the slices of toast. He handed me a plate.
"Thanks" I smiled.
"Would you like a drink?" He asked politely.
"Yes please" I said politely.
"I've got water, milk, fruit juices, vimto" he said opening and closing cupboards.
"Just water please" I smiled.
He nodded and grabbed two glasses from a different cupboard. He pulled out some apple juice and poured it into one glass. He walked over to the sink and filled the other glass with water. He handed it to me carefully.
"Sorry, I filled it up a bit too much" he laughed lightly.
"Oh, it's fine, thank you" I said sipping a bit of the water so it wasn't quite as full.
