I woke up to the sound of the smoke alarm beeping. I quickly jumped out of bed and ran out of my room to see Dan waving a cloth near the smoke alarm, cursing under his breath.
"Uh, Dan, you okay there?" I laughed.
"It's not funny, get over here and help me" Dan said as he wafted the cloth around.
I laughed and took the cloth from him. I moved it around in the air and the smoke alarm finally stopped beeping.
"What were you doing anyway?" I laughed.
"Making bacon butties" Dan said looking down. "But I burnt the bacon"
I laughed and folded the cloth neatly and put it in the drawer.
"What do you want for breakfast? Is cereal okay? I kind of burnt all the bacon" Dan said looking down again.
"Cereal's fine" I laughed.
We slumped onto the sofa and began eating our cereal. When I finished I put my bowl in he dishwasher and got ready for school. When I was ready I rejoined Dan on the sofa. He still hadn't eaten his cereal and I laughed.
"What?" Dan asked with a mouthful of cereal.
"I've eaten my cereal, got dressed, brushed my teeth and packed my bag, in the time that you've eaten half a bowl of cereal" I laughed.
"Hey, I'm taking my time" Dan laughed.
"Okay... But don't take too long, I've got school remember" I laughed.
"Okay mum" Dan laughed.
"I'm not your mum! Jeez Dan, that's so weird why would you say that" I flicked my hair over my shoulder and walked into the kitchen with as much sass as I could.
"I was joking!" He chuckled, following me into the kitchen and putting his plate in the dishwasher.
I poured myself a glass of water and was about to take a sip when Dan took the glass out of my hand and gulped half of it down, before handing it back to me.
"Gee thanks" my voice was dripping with sarcasm.
"You're welcome" Dan smiled.
"It's called sarcasm, Dan, I was being sarcastic" I said.
He laughed and walked into his room. I sighed and refilled the glass. I walked over to the window and out onto the balcony. I smiled as I saw the thick layer of snow that had covered London. I wiped the snow of the railing and rested my elbow on it, taking a sip of my water. The view was beautiful, the rooftops were coated in a thick blanket of snow, there was a flow people rushing about, trying to get to work. I focused on the cars rushing down the roads. I started to imagine what it would be like if I was down there, in the crowd of people running down the street to get to their train on time.
I jumped slightly when someone placed their hand on my shoulder. I turned to see Dan laughing at me.
"Hey! That's not funny! You scared me!" I laughed.
"Sorry" he chuckled. "Come on, you're going to be late to school"
"Oh, okay" I smiled as Dan turned round.
I smirked and picked up a handful of snow. I squished it together and threw it at Dan. I laughed as it hit him right in the back if the head. He quickly spun around and his expression was priceless. He quickly grabbed some snow and threw it at me. I screamed as it hit me right in the face, causing me to drop my glass. Luckily it didn't smash, but the water went everywhere.
"DAN OH MY GOD"
He laughed and I angrily threw another snowball at him. I laughed as the snow went into his open mouth.
