I sat alone watching How I Met Your Mother, Dan had gone to the toilet. I slipped my socks off, as I knew I would slip on the tiled floor when I went into the kitchen. I stood up and walked into the kitchen. I pulled a glass out of the cupboard and poured myself a glass of water. I switched the tap off when suddenly the door burst open, making me jump. I screamed, dropping the glass. It smashed onto my foot and pain shot up my leg, from my foot.
"Shit!" I screamed.
"Lily what happened are you-" Dan's alarmed voice came and stopped when he saw me.
I saw him staring at my foot, which was bare, as I'd taken my socks off. Big mistake. I slowly looked at my foot and almost fainted when I saw it. I screamed as loud as I could when I saw my foot was stained with blood and it had pieces of glass sticking out of it. I lifted my foot from the ground and started crying.
"Oh, shit, Lily I didn't mean to scare you!" Kyle screamed. When did Kyle get here? It bust have been him that opened the door.
"It's okay" I cried.
Dan ran over to me, he still had his shoes on so he was reasonably safe. He lifted me up and carried me to the sofa. Everyone huddled round and I noticed that Will, Woody were here with Mark. Great first impression.
"Oh shit it looks really bad, let's go to hospital" Dan said lifting me up from the sofa and almost running out he door. When I moved, a painful stab came from my foot.
"Dan the glass is still in my foot" I cried.
"I know, we'll get you to the hospital as fast as we can" Dan said running into the lift.
The others followed behind and we waited impatiently for the lift to go down. Dan burst out of the lift when it reached the bottom and sprinted to his car. He threw the keys at Kyle and he opened the door. Dan handed me to Kyle and got into the drivers seat. Kyle lowered me into the car and shuffled in next to me in the back.
"We'll take Will's car" Woody said as they ran towards Will's car.
Dan started the engine and drove as fast as he could to the hospital without going over the speed limit.
"Lily I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" Kyle said as he wrapped his arms around me.
"It's okay" I cried into his chest. "It wasn't your fault, I'm just such a klutz"
Kyle muttered "I'm sorry" into my hair, for the whole journey. We arrived at the hospital in fifteen minuted and Kyle lifted me out of the car. Dan took me out of Kyle's arms and I cried into his chest as the movement caused almost unbearable pain in my foot. We ran inside and the woman behind the desk looked shocked when we walked in.
"Oh my, is she okay? What happened?" She asked.
"She dropped a glass on her foot, can she see a doctor immediately?" Dan asked, slightly annoyed.
"Of course I'll call Dr Miller" she said pressing some numbers into the phone. "Dr Miller, you're needed in A&E"
Moments later a young man walked through the double doors at the end of the corridor. He had blonde hair and was quite pale. If I wasn't in pain, I would have laughed, because from a distance, he looked like Carlisle Cullen from Twilight.
"Hello, I'm Dr Miller, follow me please" he said politely.
I wiped the tears away from my cheeks, only to be replaced with new ones as Dan started to walk and the pain in my foot got worse. The doctor lead us to a small room and instructed Dan to put me on the bed. Dan lay me down carefully and kissed my head before taking a step back so the doctor could see me.
"So what happened?" He asked looking at my bloody foot.
"I-I dropped a-a glass on m-my foot" I whimpered.
"Ah, I see, the glass looks quite deep, I need to remove it as soon as possible" he thought for a second before turning to Dan. "Can I speak to her legal guardian please?"
"You're speaking to him" Dan said.
He looked questioningly at Dan and then shook whatever thought he had out of his head.
"I'm going to have to give her some painkillers, this may give her side affects until it wears off" he said and Dan nodded.
"I don't care, just heal my daughter" Dan said harshly.
"I'll try my best sir" the doctor said before running off.
Dan rushed over to me and held my hand.
"It hurts" I cried.
"I know sweetie, but the doctor is going to try his best to stop the pain okay?" Dan said calmly.
I nodded and looked behind Dan to see Kyle standing with a guilty look on his face.
"Kyle it wasn't your fault" I said and Kyle's eyes locked into mine.
"It was, if I hadn't been being stupid then you wouldn't be in hospital with glass in your foot" Kyle said crouching down next to the bed so he was in line with my face.
"It's not your fault" I said wiping the tears from my cheeks. "If I wasn't so clumsy, you guys would be practicing and sounding awesome, but now you're stuck in here because I'm a klutz"
Kyle opened his mouth to speak but the others burst through the doors, cutting him off.
"Lily! Are you okay? Stupid question sorry" Woody said. Naw, he was so cute.
"I'm fine" I smiled.
Mark approached me then and I sat up.
"Hi, I'm Mark, it's nice to finally meet you" he smiled.
"Lily" I smiled, shaking his hand. "Great first impression hu?" I giggled and Mark laughed.
The doctor came into the room with a large needle. I was still holding Dan's hand and I think I broke a bone when I saw the needle. I hate needles.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave, parents only" the doctor said.
"We are her parents" Dan said and the doctor gave him a confused look.
"Oh, well I'm sorry but only one of you can be in here, it's too crowded with you all in here" the doctor said.
"Okay, Dan stay" Kyle said.
"We'll be outside" Will smiled at me and they walked out.
"Okay, I'm going to inject you with this, it will stop the pain, but this may hurt a little" he said as he moved the needle closer to my skin.
I squeezed my eyes shut and probably crushed a few more bones in Dan's hand. I felt a stabbing pain in my arm and a whimper escaped my lips as I felt the doctor inject the painkiller. I felt the needle being removed from my skin and I loosened my grip on Dan's hand. After a few moments the excruciating pain in my foot eased up and eventually stopped. I opened my eyes and looked apologetically at Dan.
"Sorry for crushing your hand" I smiled apologetically.
"It's fine, I think I only have a minimum of six broken bones" Dan chuckled and the doctor looked over at Dan's hand.
"You're fine" he laughed.
"Sorry Dan" I giggled at Dan.
"Alright, so I need to remove the glass, if you don't want to look, concentrate on Dan" the doctor said.
How did he know Dan's name? Oh right I said it a second ago. I started to feel funny and began to get a little bit hyper. I saw the doctor lift my foot and I looked at Dan to distract myself from the man pulling glass out of my foot. He smiled reassuringly at me and I started laughing. He raised his eyebrow at me and I laughed harder.
"I feel funny" I giggled.
Dan laughed too and a nurse walked into the room with some tools or something. Dan started to sing and I smiled.
"These are the days that bind us, together, forever
And these little things define us, forever, forever
All this bad blood here, won't you let it dry?
All this bad blood here, won't you let it lie?" Dan sung.
I started laughing again and Dan joined in. After a few minutes of nurses running in and out of the room the doctor finally put my foot down.
"All the glass has been removed so I'll just put a few stitches in, your cuts are not as deep as I thought, so you'll be healed in a few days" he smiled.
I blushed when I noticed how good looking he actually was. His skin was flawless, his eyes were the brightest shade of green and his jawline and cheekbones were perfect. I looked away before anyone saw me blushing and concentrated on getting my face back to its normal colour.
"Thank you" Dan smiled.
The doctor nodded and went back to attending my foot.
*****************************
"Alright, all done, don't walk on it for a few days, let it heal, so that means no school, and if you could return on Thursday to remove the stitches that would be excellent" the doctor said formally as he finished wrapping my foot up.
"Okay, will do" Dan said, carefully lifting me from the bed.
"If you would like me to write a letter to her school telling them why she will not be attending, I'll do that now" the doctor said and I looked at Dan.
I didn't attend school. Wasn't that illegal? What is Dan going to say? Argh I'm worrying too much. I feel funny. What's happening?
"Uh, it's fine, you don't have to" Dan smiled.
"Okay, if you're sure" he said.
"I'm sure" Dan smiled.
"Alright, well I'll see you on Thursday Lily" he smiled and Dan walked out of the room.
The guys were sat waiting outside the room and they all stood up when they saw us come out.
"Are you alright?" Kyle asked, concern was present in his voice.
"I'm fine, I don't feel any pain" I giggled. "I feel weird though, like all tingly"
"The doctor said there might be some side effects because of the dosage or something like that" Dan said to the guys. (Sorry I don't know anything about hospitals or medicines, I just made it up)
"Oh right" Kyle said.
"She can't do anything for a few days until her foot has healed then they'll take the stitches out" Dan said and Kyle nodded.
I couldn't see the others, they were walking behind us, but I could hear quiet mumbling coming from them.
"I'm sorry for ruining your practice" I said loud enough for all of them to hear.
"It's okay, you didn't ruin it" Dan smiled.
"Yeah I did, if I haven't dropped that stupid glass, which I'm sorry for breaking by the way, then you guys would be practicing and making awesome music that myself and everyone in the whole world will love" I said.
"You didn't ruin it okay?" Dan said.
"It was my fault" Kyle butted in and I glared at him.
"Kyle it wasn't your fault" I said.
"It was, if-" I cut him off.
"It wasn't okay? I dropped the glass, it's my own fault that I'm injured" I said.
"But if I-" I cut him off again.
"It was my fault"
Kyle smiled slightly, finally realising that it was my fault and he didn't need to be guilty. I knew he still felt a bit guilty, but not as much as he did before. Kyle unlocked the door and got in the drivers seat. Dan placed me in the car and shuffled in next to me. I clipped my seatbelt in and rested my head on Dan's shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me and held my hands with his other. Kyle drove back to the flat with the others following behind.
We arrived at the flat and Kyle parked the car. Dan lifted me out and carried me up to the flat. He pushed the door open and we stepped inside. He kicked his shoes off and lay me down on the sofa. The others piled in and crowded round the sofa. I began to panic as I felt very enclosed in and began feeling self conscious as they all stared at me.
"Are you okay?" Woody asked.
"I'm fine" I smiled.
Woody smiled at me and I heard Mark talking to Dan.
"Mate, we really need to get working, we've already missed over an hour of working time" Mark said.
"I know, but she's my daughter, she's important too" Dan said and I smiled slightly.
The others had all wandered off so I lay on the sofa listening to Dan and Mark's conversation.
"I know she is, but we need to get to work, if you don't mind" Mark said.
"Yeah, okay, I'll get the guys and I'll see you in there" Dan said.
I closed my eyes, pretending that I was sleeping or resting so Dan wouldn't think that I was listening in. I think those painkillers are making me act more childish.
"Guys, come on" Dan said, probably gesturing to the music room.
There were a few mumbled "okay"s and I heard footsteps.
"Lil?" Dan asked.
I opened my eyes to see him kneeling down next to the sofa.
"We're just gonna work on some things, if you need me or anyone, just come and get us okay? Oh wait, uh, you can't walk, uh-" I cut him off.
"I'll hop" I giggled.
"Okay" Dan chuckled.
He smiled and kissed my head, standing up. He walked into the music room and shut he door. I reached over and grabbed the TV remote from the table and switched the TV on. I flicked through the channels and found The Big Bang Theory.
The episode was half way through when my phone rang. I answered without looking who it was.
"Hello?" I said.
"Lily!" Josie's voice screamed down the phone.
"Hey Jo!" I laughed.
"Sorry I've not spoken in ageeees" she laughed.
"Ah no problem" I giggled.
"So how are you?" She asked.
"Well I'm okay, apart from the fact that I dropped a glass on my foot and had to have stitches in my foot" I laughed.
"What? Oh my god! Are you okay? When did this happen?" She asked worriedly.
"About two hours ago, and I'm fine, I had some painkillers so I'm good" I laughed.
"Oh god, ouch, sounds painful" she laughed slightly.
"It was, but I'm alright" I laughed.
Suddenly music flooded the flat, I'd never heard the song before, but there was no singing, just some "ooh" s.
"Oohh what's that?" Josie asked.
"I have no idea, the guys are in the music room" I laughed.
"It sounds great! Is it new?" She asked.
"No idea, I've never heard it before" I said.
"It's great!" She laughed.
"I know! But Dan won't let me hear it properly" I said disappointedly.
"Why not? You're his daughter!" She laughed.
"I know! That's what I said! But he said it was because I was a fan and he wants to surprise the fans, so I'm not allowed to listen" I laughed.
The music stopped and I heard the door open.
"Lily?" Dan asked.
"Yeah?" I replied to Dan. "One sec Jo"
I moved the phone away from my ear and looked at Dan.
"Can you hear us?" Dan asked.
"Yeah why?" I asked and slapped myself inside. If Dan knew I could hear him he would make me wear headphones or leave or something, because he wanted to surprise me. "I mean, hear what?"
Dan chuckled and handed me a pair of headphones. Damn.
"Here, wear these, you're not allowed to listen" he laughed.
"Why not?! Dan please that's unfair" I gave him puppy eyes and he chuckled.
"Because I want to surprise you" he smiled.
"Jo agrees with me, she thinks it's unfair too" I said pointing to my phone.
"Pass it to me" Dan said and I threw him my phone. "Hi Jo, it's Dan... Because I want to surprise her... Because she's a fan... I know she's my daughter... I know... But... Jo... Okay... Fine... Bye Josie" he passed the phone back to me laughing.
"Hey Jo" I laughed into the phone.
"Okay, I gave him a telling off, he said he'll let you listen" she laughed. "Oh my god. Lily. I've just told Dan Smith off. And he listened to me. Oh my god. Fangirl moment. Oh my god" she stared freaking out.
"Jo, calm yourself" I laughed.
"Okay. Calm" she said.
"Good, thanks Jo" I said.
"You're welcome, now, hang up so you can listen to some Bastille magic" she laughed.
"Okay, bye Jo" I laughed.
"Bye Lil" she laughed and the line went dead.
"So?" I asked Dan.
"You can listen" he sighed.
"Thank you!" I was about to jump up and hug him but I remembered about my foot. "I would hug you right now but I can't really move" I laughed.
"You're welcome sweetie" Dan laughed, walking over to me and hugging me tightly.
"So, do I go in there with you or?" I asked.
"Well it's a bit crowded in there so if you don't mind you stay in here, but I won't make you wear these" he laughed taking the headphones from my hands.
"Thank you" I smiled.
"No problemo, how's your foot?" He asked.
"Fine" I smiled.
"Good, we'll be done soon" Dan smiled walking back into the music room again, but he left the door open this time.
I smiled and sat up. I put my foot on the table and turned back to the TV, waiting for the music to fill the room.
