Holy cow batman I'm at my grandparent's house and it's been raining really hard for the last few days so everything is flooding. The pic is of the front yard and the road. The ditches on either side of the road are overflowing. The telephone pole at the far left of the picture is next to where the ditch is supposed to be, and the blue trashcan is sitting in the middle of the driveway (there is a little sinkhole that popped up yesterday and we needed to make sure no one drove over it) and you can see the water from the ditch is at the trash can and on the road. My dad went check and all the road past that point is flooded.
Thank goodness, the house itself is raised for this exact situation, but the poor little kitties that hang out under the house have moved to the back porch. We still have electricity thankfully, and the local weather channel keeps saying "Historic Floods" and showing this lady letting calf-deep water flow through her front door (which makes me so angry, I mean at least with the door closed its not going to get in as quickly).
As soon as the rain lets off a bit I'm going to go out into the back yard and collect all the things that floated away from my grandpa's shed/barn in the flood. The governor or whoever that is on tv has declared a state of emergency. Everything is relatively fine where I'm at, but it's starting to get pretty bad in a lot of other places.
