Day three of manning the shop. There were three other volunteers aside from Mr. Danny today, but they left as soon as I showed up. I had brought my book and crochet project again, but didn't get a chance to use them. Mr. Danny and I chatted most of the time, talking about his health and childhood {he's pretty old but started having panic attacks a few years ago and just recently suffered from a stroke, so he's taking medication for that. His mom was sick a lot so he had to stay home from school and missed the equivalent of 2 1/2 years. It took him 14 years to finally get his high school diploma. He's a pretty cool dude though, and kinda reminds me of my grandpa} and dancing. We both know the two-step and neither of use knows the jig. After that Mr. Danny messed with the computer, trying to download a video from a CD to the computer. I am not computer savvy so I had no idea how to help. Ms. Leah from animal control came to visit again, and she and Mr. Danny chatted about glasses. I am well versed in this topic but didn't say anything. {Astigmatism in both eyes, almost failed the first grade because I couldn't read due to severely blurry vision, had glasses for fourteen years now, since I was six.} Miss Kitty appeared with Ms. Leah and got scratches from both of us. After Ms. Leah left, a couple came in to tour the museum and bought a bunch of stuff. I handled the transaction and almost shortchanged the customer by ten whole dollars. This is why I'm not a math major. {Holy cow batman I was so embarrassed.} About 4:30, Mr. Danny went out to give the peacock some fresh water and I got a row of my hat done. Mr. Danny came back just before closing and gave me a peacock feather. I received it nonchalantly, but in my head I was freaking out because I love peacock feathers and have a collection at home. At closing time, Mr. Danny also gave me a jar of Summer Breeze marmalade that was over a year old (they don't sell them if they're over a year old) and a praline to try because he wanted to know if they were good. I ate it when I got back to campus and it was pretty good. The flavor is nice but I like my pralines a bit chewier.
I'll keep updating these as I do my hours, so I should have one up every Tuesday and Thursday, unless I happen to be late, then it would probably come on a Wednesday or Friday.
