Woo I finished my first week back at college! I'm taking 18 hours this semester, which is three classes a day. The list of classes I'm taking is on my First Day Back post.
But omg man I am freaking loving my philosophy class. Philosophy is pretty much the science of pondering existential questions (very very loose, connotated definition), like the kind of stuff you ask yourself when you're awake at three am or when you're showering. Like, "What is the meaning of life?" "Are people inherently 'good' or 'evil'?" "How do I know that everything I see is not just a construct of my own mind?" Those kinds of questions.
We have little homework assignments that he gives us in class to do online before the next class starts, but they're actually really cool. The first one we had to do was introduce ourselves in 250 words, which I actually like doing. The second one was to think of three questions we wanted to discuss some time this semester. The next assignment that I need to do before Monday is to read Plato's "Apology" and write about an interesting line that I like. I'm just kind of really excited about this class!
In other news, I have a pretty bad sinus infection. I've been coughing for the last two weeks straight with no other symptoms of anything, so I went to urgent care a few days ago. Right now I'm taking almost a dozen pills a day to get rid of it. When I went to urgent care I was running a 100 degree fever which is crazy because I don't catch fever easily and I didn't even feel like I had a fever. I'm wheezing a little bit and coughing stuff up, but I can tell I'm starting to get better. I'm still a little concerned though because I have referee a soccer game tomorrow.
Also, in the spirit of my first weekend back at college, I stayed up until five am this morning watching the whole first season of Valvrave the Liberator. Usually I'm not that into mechas, but this one is really cool. L-Elf is seriously one of the coolest anime characters ever. Not quite as cool as my favorite character, Shizuo Hewajima from Durarara, but still pretty freaking cool. Before that, I watched Bungou Stray Dogs, which I also really liked. I can't wait for season 2!! Dazai is shaping up to be one of my favorite characters as well.
I also managed to find the one spot in my room where the signal is perfect and I don't have to wait for videos to buffer. The wifi is not as good as it was in my old dorm (I switched to a new one) and that's a little sad. I'm also farther away from the coffee shop 😢☕️ . My new roommate, only one this time, is alright. She's a freshman in the nursing program and also a new sorority member. She's nice, but she complains a lot and keeps trying to drag me to bars and fraternity and sorority parties and I really don't want to go. My mom told her to get me out of the room not realizing that she only really hangs out with her sorority, and what most of them like to do in their spare time is party and drink, which I'm not interested in.
I'm trying to graduate as soon as possible, and socializing is just not a priority. I am satisfied with the few friends I made last year, and my internet friends. I worked around people all summer and had maybe two days of social recharge time, which is a far cry from enough.
I just need to chill out in isolation for a while before trying to be in the world. Introversion sucks but that's my life.Anyway, this post/chapter/thing is getting a little long, so I'll end it here. Peace out! 😜✌️
