I manned the store again for my second day of service learning. Mr. Danny was out mowing a different section of yard again, and I met two more volunteers, one whose name I didn't catch because he was on his way out the door, and the other, Ms. Donna (I think, I'm terrible at remembering people's names), left the shop to me a few minutes later, after a few French speaking tourists finished asking her stuff and left.. I came prepared this time, and brought my copy of A History of Warfare by John Keegan, that I have to read for my world military class, and my crochet project. I read in Keegan's book for about an hour and a half, with only one interruption of Mr. Danny checking to see if anyone was still manning the store. After that, I stretched my legs for a bit and walked around the store and exploring what I hadn't seen yet. Miss Kitty laid in her chair near the door and dozed for almost the whole time I was there. I read a bit more of Keegan then switched to my crochet project. I am making a hat, and it's blue, and I'm almost done with it. {A/N I'm gonna make a separate post about my crochet stuff at a later date and then post pics of my finished products on it.} I want to make a scarf {and now a laptop cozy}, but my aunts and their friends all want hats so I'll probably do that first, and I thought about what colors I want to use for a while since THEY WON'T SPECIFY WHAT THEY WANT. But I digress. A few people came in to buy feed corn with their children, who were very cute and very distracted by Miss Kitty, who had made her appearance when it seemed like she would be given attention. Around 4:30, Mr. Danny came in from mowing and we chatted for a bit. A few minutes before closing time at five, a lady came in wanting to show her parents around, and Mr. Danny let them. The parents had come from Florida to stay with the daughter while hurricane Irma was making landfall. While they were touring the museum, I made the mistake of rubbing too close to Miss Kitty's belly and she trapped my arm in her claws while she kicked me and bit my hand and I begged her to please stop while there were customers and that I couldn't get my hand away if she was clawing and biting it. I finally pried her off of me just before the people came to talk to Mr. Danny. They loved her just as much as I do and we talked about our own pet cats {I have to tell you all about my little boys! I can't believe I forgot!}. After they left, Mr. Danny counted out the day's profits and locked up, and I also left. {Also I almost forgot my phone in the store but I'm not gonna tell my professor about that cause it was kind of embarrassing. Thank goodness I realized when I did because I was in the car about to drive off and Mr. Danny was about to lock the front door.}
I'm trying to keep the copy I send to my professor a bit more professional (-ish), so I think I'll be adding more afterthoughts in bold from now on.
